Yeah, honestly, the main thing is that I finally got my hands on the invitations and I'm happy with how they turned out. I just felt like I had to share the story; maybe someone else can avoid the nightmare I went through. 😬

New question: do I need to present official documents during the pre-marital counseling course? My fiancé is stuck out at sea right now and there's zero chance he'll make it back in time for any of the scheduled sessions. Is it possible to bring a proxy or a stand-in instead? 😵

When we took our course in San Francisco, they didn't ask us to show any paperwork at all.
David Torres67,
I am truly sorry you had to deal with such an experience. Honestly, I haven’t run into any issues with them myself—I suppose I just got luckier than you did.
I completely get why you're so heated; nothing gets under my skin quite like sheer unprofessionalism. But look, the important thing is that you finally got those invitations sorted out. Don't let it ruin your mood. :-)

How much cake should I actually get if I'm catering for 200 people—especially since there’s going to be a massive spread of other desserts and pastries on the table too? Also, what’s the current price range looking like, and does anyone have any solid recommendations?
David Torres67 said:That’s awesome! So glad to hear they turned out well 🙂 I definitely don't feel like dropping a dollar per invite either, especially since most designs I see lately look way too tacky for my taste.
Guess I don't need to keep hunting then! 🎉

One more question—how many people should I account for when ordering the wedding cake? Like, if I have 150 guests, should I get a cake sized for 50, 80, 100, or the full 150? I doubt everyone will eat a huge slice, but I wanted to double-check. 😁

So far we've checked off the venue, the photographer, and the band. We handled those right at the start, so I kept telling myself we had plenty of time. Now I'm looking at the calendar and realize I only have 3 months and 11 days left... suddenly it feels like we're running out of time fast. 🤦

Honestly, they were perfectly fine for me—I got exactly what I was looking for. I wasn't interested in anything flashy or over-the-top, just something straightforward. I’m happy with the result, and I really hope you end up feeling the same way about yours. 🙂
As for the cakes—honestly, I haven't made a final call on that yet. I'm still weighing my options. They did mention that there’s no need to have everything locked in too far in advance, so I'm just taking my time with it.

I’ve still got two months left on my clock. I’ve only just started tackling the finer details, so there is plenty of time to get everything sorted. Honestly, if you haven't already, you need to focus on yourself first—get your hair, makeup, and that whole look finalized—and then figure out the church situation, assuming that's even your thing. As for the rest? Just take it bit by bit. There's really no need to panic. :-)
David Torres67 said:Has anyone here actually used the website invitations.com? I found a few designs I really love, but the prices are so low it’s making me a little suspicious 😬

Also, has anyone ordered a wedding cake out in the suburbs? If you have, are the prices pretty standard or do they charge a huge premium for being out there?

I actually placed an order with them recently. My invitations showed up in just three days—super fast. Everything was exactly what we discussed; the invites look beautiful, the envelopes were simple white, and I’m honestly thrilled with how they turned out. Before they go to print, they send you a digital proof via email so you can double-check everything and make sure it's perfect. I paid $1.25 per piece, plus $13 for shipping, and when I checked elsewhere in San Francisco, they were asking about $1 per invitation. 👍

Andrew Taylor12 said:Hey, can someone point me toward where I can pick up some good invitation paper here in San Francisco? Also, for any DIY brides out there who’ve made their own wedding favors—like those cute ones with pearls and bows—where's the best spot to grab supplies without breaking the bank? One more thing: does anyone know where I can find that heavy tulle for church pews? I'm looking for the thick stuff that drapes perfectly, almost like foam.

If you're looking for supplies for boutonnieres—ribbons, pearls, bows, adhesive tape, all that good stuff—your best bet for budget-friendly prices is definitely Ana's Art Supplies.
It's located < >Downtown, right near that Didovo Zlato pizza joint. Now, if you want something a bit higher-end—though it'll cost you significantly more based on my experience—there's Rose Commerce near the mall. For the tulle, I'm not entirely sure, but they might carry it at the art shop; otherwise, if you aren't in a massive rush, just order it online...

Thanks. But is he just some accordion player or what?

analogdrifter51 said:Like a jazz quartet? My budget for an accordionist is basically fifty bucks. :/

My brother isn't really cut out for choral groups... and $500? Uh, that's a lot of money...

analogdrifter51 said:Once they actually start running the ads—honestly, choosing Mihovil gospel would be a total slam dunk.

Look, nobody is paying me to say this, but I am 100% on board with that sentiment! 👍 They really are incredible.

Does anyone have a recommendation for live music to accompany the ceremony? I’m looking for something more elevated than just a solo accordion player, but I also don't have a million dollars to drop on a full orchestra.😉

I honestly couldn't disagree more regarding Helen and Annmarie's salons in Boise. Personally, I had a fantastic experience, and that's consistent with what others have said about renting from them. The pricing is much more reasonable, and you can find some truly stunning options there. The staff is incredibly professional. While Annmarie's Salon might look a little less polished visually, their wedding dresses are absolutely beautiful. As for Milo—I wouldn't go back there if I could help it. All things considered, my experience with the salons in Boise was way more positive than the ones in San Francisco. Perhaps my expectations for San Francisco were set too high, while I expected too little from Boise, which led to me being pleasantly surprised later on. 😵
I found it. Thanks so much! 👍
Could someone please give me a bit more detail on where exactly Ružica dva commerce is located?

Ann, regarding the craft supplies—down by the downtown area, near the mall and that local pizza joint—there’s a shop with some decorations, though I’m not entirely sure about their selection... so if you aren't in a massive rush, why not just order 👍

Does anyone have a recommendation for a musician to play at a house party to see off a wedding couple—and please, let's avoid anything involving an accordion or a traditional folk group?

Also, does anyone know where I can pick up some simple white gold wedding bands?
Thanks

Does anyone have recommendations for a musician who could play at our place—specifically when they pick me up and we're waiting out front of the church? And please, I’m looking for something other than (just) an accordion player. Does anyone know what kind of budget I should set aside for that?

Also, I was wondering how much you all ended up spending on flowers? Any recent suggestions for florists? Thanks!
coastalharbor6 said:There aren't actually that many... maybe 10 to 15 out of 150. Of course, it's a unique situation and we have no idea who will actually show up. We won't know until the very last minute. Honestly, I've been losing my mind over this wedding already! It’s such a diverse mix of people that I have no clue how to make everyone feel comfortable. It doesn't need to be a wedding tailored to everyone's specific tastes—that’s just impossible—but still...

We all share the goal of making our guests feel welcome, but above all, you need to please yourselves. This is *your* day—pick the music and everything else based on what you actually like. What you offer should be decent and of a certain standard, but trying to figure out everyone's specific tastes and how to satisfy them all? Just get that out of your head. It's your big moment, and if they truly care about you, they will adapt to your wishes and your vibe. I've been to countless weddings myself, and some of them featured music that was the complete opposite of my style, yet it didn't stop me from dancing all night long because I was there for the people I love. I don't claim any right to say a reception was "bad" just because the band wasn't playing my kind of music. The bottom line: those who care about you will adjust and be perfectly happy, and frankly, no matter how hard you try, there will always be someone looking for something to complain about. Don't stress over things like 👍

coastalharbor6;56379609 said:Regarding the bands... since the wedding is a bit of a hybrid—neither of us are religious nor do we actually live here (there will be international guests attending too)—they really need to cover all the bases. That’s honestly the part I’m most stressed about. :/

Honestly, your best bet is to just call a few of them directly. See what they're offering, check if their vibe fits yours, and see if the pricing makes sense. You should also try to catch them live if you can. A lot of these groups play at local clubs, or you could even swing by a beach party or a summer festival for a bit to hear them in action—if you're up for that. For instance, I've always thought the band Vox was pretty solid. In my experience, they're quite easy to work with when it comes to specific requests—and since they play a ton of popular hits at those summer resorts around the coast, you could probably negotiate a setlist that leans more heavily into international tracks to keep your out-of-town guests happy...

coastalharbor6 said:Regarding local bands, who comes most highly recommended in the San Francisco area? Also, I honestly have no clue how much things usually cost around there...

There are plenty of solid groups out there, though it really depends on the vibe you're hunting for... personally, I think these guys are decent: Taxi ($2,200), Jessy ($2,000), Best ($2,000), Kocka ($2,000), Boss ($2,000), and Centrifuga ($1,900)

Sean Wells said:Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could give me the lowdown on Ariana—like, what’s the food actually like? Is there a specific way you should order everything, or do they offer anything beyond the standard menu? Thanks!

1. Prosciutto, cheese, French onion soup, then fish pâté. 2. Black squid risotto or veal risotto (though you could swap those for green risotto with shrimp or a seafood medley). 3. Beef stew with gnocchi + chicken in a gorgonzola sauce served with croquettes. 4. Lamb, roasted potatoes, and salad (you can also mix and match with beef or pork). It’s $45.

That's the exact lineup we were offered—if you're looking for something different, you might want to ask them if they have other options available.

copperowl13 said:What’s the going rate for a wedding album these days? I’m looking at something roughly 12x12 inches...

I actually received a quote from some photographers based out of rural Missouri for about $185 for a 12x12 inch wedding book. As for San Francisco—honestly, I have no clue what the specific pricing looks like for just an album, since most of the rates I've seen are tied up in full photography packages. It's hard to pin down what a standalone book would cost in a major metro area like that.
