Budget PC build under $900 in Desktops ·
What’s actually the difference between G.Skill Ripjaws and Aegis? Is it even worth shelling out an extra twenty bucks for the Ripjaws—I mean, maybe not. I was doing some digging just now and looks like the best deal, I guess. Should I just grab it?

Everyone seems to think it’s a waste of money—so I guess I’m walking away from Intel.

I know, I know, I'm being a pain—but could someone please put together the best possible Ryzen 5 2600 build for me on Newegg (keep it under $2667 with an RTX 2060)?

Adam Moore3 said:Adding an i7 will bump the price up by about $667, so keep that in mind 🙂

If you’re set on the 2060, you don't actually need to change anything else in the build—just swap out the 1660Ti for the 2060 and you're good to go.

Something like this, for example: CLICK It’s a fair amount of cash for those specs, but if you really want that RTX power, go for it. 👍

Yeah, I just finished up on this one, haha... every single day it feels like $167 more

What do you think of this? Some guys over on a tech forum put this together for me...

Adam Moore3 said:It's doable, obviously, since it's about ~$133 more expensive. Performance-wise they're pretty close; I'd say the RTXica is maybe a few FPSa better on average, but not enough to really justify the extra cost.

You won't even get much use out of Fičrse RTXa (ray tracing/DLSS) with a 2060 because those features are just too "expensive" for the FPS you'll get.
On one hand, getting the 2060 feels kind of pointless because it simply isn't powerful enough to run any major AAA titles with ray tracing enabled on high settings.

So, I think your current combo is plenty, but if you really want it, go ahead and grab the 2060. You aren't making a huge mistake if you think those extra 5 FPSa are worth it. 🙂

I'd probably lean toward the 2060... maybe even pair it with an Intel Core i7? Or is that just not worth it compared to what you can get with a Ryzen?

If I were to go the Ryzen + 2060 route, what kind of build would you suggest?

I’ve been poking around a bit... is an RTX 2060 actually worth the trouble—and would it even be feasible to build a rig up to $2333 using one?

The only real dealbreaker is that I need to be able to pay via PayPal (doesn't have to be through Uzishop)

Zalman S3 Midi-Tower ATX case, no PSU, black
Fortron Hexa 85+ 450W, 80+ Bronze, ATX
LC-Power Cosmo Cool 120

Total 3 $273 ( $1235 with a 3% discount )

That lands right at 6000, and you get the best GPU possible for this budget without making any compromises.

All I really care about is being able to pay via PayPal... and it looks like they accept it too, so it might work... though I suppose then everything wouldn't arrive all at once...

Hey everyone.

Back in 2014, you all helped me put together my first rig.

I suppose I should thank you—it’s been running without a single hiccup, and I’m typing this from the same machine while it still holds up.

It is finally time for an upgrade, and my budget is a bit more flexible this time—around $2000 at most.

I use my PC for everything, though let's be honest, gaming is the priority. I have one non-negotiable requirement, though—it HAS to be built through

https://www.newegg.com/

Thanks again, and I'm hoping for some solid advice once more.

By the way, if anyone could recommend a decent gaming monitor under $667, I wouldn't mind.

Alright, I need some input—a friend is putting together a rig with a budget of up to $1500. He’s buying everything from a single retailer, including the storage, so he needs it all in one shot. I put this list together myself—it’s probably total garbage, honestly—but please, just let me know what you think 😉
.

(The build is strictly for gaming)

Thanks.

Then there's this:

AMD FX-6300
LC-CC-97
GIGABYTE GA-970A
KINGSTON 2+4 GB 1600 MHZ
MSI AMD Radeon R7 260 1GB DDR5 OC
Hyper 600 w 80+
ZALMAN Z1 MIDI ATX USB 3.0

= $1090 including shipping and assembly.

I'm ordering it anyway—I gave up on the local shop. I was wondering if these $1090 are available through Admin.com... and maybe—just maybe—it's possible to shave a little more off the price by at least $33? I suppose I could save about $50 if I went with 4 gigs of RAM instead of 6, assuming the performance hit isn't too devastating.

So, here is the plan:

AMD FX-6300
LC-CC-97
GIGABYTE GA-970A
KINGSTON 2+4 GB 1600 MHZ
MSI AMD Radeon R7 260 1GB DDR5 OC
Hyper 600 w 80+
ZALMAN Z1 MIDI ATX USB 3.0

= $1090 including shipping and assembly.

This build looks best to me—but there’s a catch—my budget might end up being slightly under $1167, and for certain reasons, I have to buy the PC from Best Buy. Would it be possible to put together a configuration at Best Buy using a GIGABYTE GA-970A and an AMD FX-6300 that actually looks decent? (meaning, something remotely close to yours)

What’s your take on this build—not that I have any intention of overclocking, anyway.

I'm really not planning on getting OC-at a new computer—so don't even go there... maybe, in three or four years when I've basically stopped caring anyway.

$1176

Thanks a million!

@dustyskipper77—would it be an issue if I used this power supply instead of yours—or just anything similar that's actually available at my local Amazon store (since yours isn't)
for example: 650W Power Supply, LC POWER Silent Giant GREEN POWER LC6650GP3 V2.3, 140mm fan.

As for the rest, I guess it would look like this...?

Biostar A78MD Motherboard, AMD A78, DDR3, audio, S-ATA, RAID, G-LAN, PCI-E 3.0, USB 3.0, D-SUB, DVI, HDMI, Micro-ATX, FM2+ socket
$35.00

AMD Athlon II x4 760K Black Edition Processor, FM2 socket, 3.8GHz, 4MB cache, Quad-core
$65.00

PC-12800 Memory, 4GB, G.SKILL Value Series, F3-1600C11S-4GNS, DDR3 1600MHz
$35.00

PCI-E NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti GS Graphics Card, 2GB DDR5, D-SUB, DVI, miniHDMI
$120.00

And I was wondering about the RAM—is that enough? I don't really know much about this stuff, so I'm asking...

PS: also, where in Indianapolis could I find something cheaper than at Amazon?

Hey everyone,

I was hoping someone could help me put together a gaming build for under $1167. Actually—if we could shave about 200-$100 off that, even better, I guess. I'm planning to pick everything up at Best Buy, so if you can find a way to make the parts work within their site, that would be great. If not, no big deal.

From my old rig, the only thing worth saving is this drive...
