Yeah, I heard they aren't doing weddings there anymore. That was back at the start of the year. Maybe I just got bumped off the list, or maybe someone else will eventually manage to pull it off.
Doesn't matter, though. I'm not sitting here regretting not getting married there—I am beyond happy with St. Duje. The ceremony itself was flawless, and we have nothing but good things to say about the priest. So many people were talking about his sermon, saying how much they loved how straightforward it was and how engaging he actually was. 😁

Austin Hughes8 said:My advice: hit up Mass at St. Francis Church (which includes the little chapel over in Manhattan) a few times, then grab Father Relota after service. He’ll help you out if you tell him that even though St. Francis isn't your home parish, you still make it a point to attend Sunday Mass there. 🙂

Same deal works for St. Jerome on Marin and the Meštrović estate (which costs a fee).

Otherwise, that chapel is just what’s left of the old "St. Stephen under the pines" monastery. As for those signs saying it's a cemetery wedding—honestly, I wouldn't even allow a ceremony like that there just because of the pure vanity of it all.

St. Jerome is actually a different parish, so getting married there isn't an option. At least, that's what I was told this year.

Otherwise, the chapel is just what's left of the "St. Stephen under the Pines" monastery. Regarding those comments about weddings being held at a cemetery—I wouldn't allow a ceremony there myself just for the sake of following some trend.

It's a former cemetery. And no, it wasn't about "trends," it was about "appearances."🥳 Does that make me any less of a faithful Catholic when it comes to getting married there?

I’m gonna head down there in person in the next few days to grill them and see what the deal actually is.
At least then I'll know where I stand—whether I need to start looking elsewhere or just...

Yeah, probably for the best. Go to service, then pull him aside afterward to ask. Good luck!

They didn't actually turn us down, though I've heard stories from other people who couldn't book that church because they weren't part of the local parish. When I called them, the guy was pretty hesitant; he kept saying everything depends on things, that he needs to meet us in person first before making any calls... We never even bothered going back because I just didn't have the patience for it, honestly. I was too busy obsessing over getting married at that old cemetery with the killer view. We basically just walked away ourselves.☕ Maybe you need to be more persistent, but just don't bring up the location or the scenery.😉 Just tell them you have deep respect for Saint Stephen.😁

Susan Jones6 said:His photos are killer, and honestly, the price looks like a total steal compared to everyone else out there.

I’m thinking about dropping him an email right now to see if he’s actually available, just so I know whether I need to keep hunting.
Man, I really hope he's free.

If anyone has any fresh intel on that church over in Manhattan, it would be a huge help.🙂
Also, when can I actually go sign up and get everything sorted?

Signing up for a wedding? Look, first off, the priest has to actually agree to marry you there before any registration happens. That church was one of our options. Basically, you call them up and ask if they're free on your date. After that, the priest is going to grill you about whether you're part of that specific parish, and if you aren't, he’ll want to know why you're so dead set on getting married right there. Pro tip—don't make my mistake by telling them you just love the view. Apparently, "it looks nice" isn't a valid enough reason for them. 😂 Luckily, we found out later that there used to be a graveyard on the property, so honestly, I'm not even sorry we didn't go through with it there, despite how great the scenery is.😁

I haven't actually picked a makeup artist yet, mostly because I've had some pretty terrible experiences with trial runs in the past, so I'd really appreciate it if someone could give me the lowdown on Katja Filipović, Tina Kalinić, or Ana Benzon. Thanks🕺
Noah James23 said:Does anyone know where I can find some hair accessories around San Francisco? Nothing too crazy, just maybe a little clip or something since I'll be rocking a low ponytail

I'm not exactly sure where in San Francisco I saw it, but since I was looking for it myself, those damn Facebook ads keep popping up in my feed. It’s always some random local page, though. I can't for the life of me remember the name right now, but as soon as it shows up again, I'll let you know so you can take a look.

irontiger93 said:Hey everyone! I keep seeing you all drop recommendations here, so I figured it was finally time to jump in—I'm planning a wedding from NYC, though my fiancé is heading out to handle the logistics 🎉
I don't know if my taste is just off or what, but I could barely find any reviews for Dodger Stadium... but honestly, out of everywhere we've scouted, the vibe there felt the best—especially regarding the staff and the menu—so Dodger Stadium it is 🙂
Now I'm wondering which DJs you guys would recommend? It seems like there isn't much info on that either... 🤔
I've read plenty about cakes—it's always the same big names popping up—but I was wondering if anyone has actually tried the treats from Tea Mamut or Luke? I'm obsessed with sweet.cakes.and.more.. on Instagram... any info at all would be amazing :klap:

We’re going with a Tea Mamut cake, and I don't care what it costs—I’m ready to drop some serious cash to make this happen. But let's be real: when you're paying for something like that, you aren't just paying for the name on the box. You're paying for the actual quality. If I'm shelling out that kind of money, it better be perfect.😉 I’m not even exaggerating here—that sponge cake she makes is easily one of the best I’ve ever had. And those creams? Seriously delicious. You can tell she uses high-quality stuff.

Out of all the weddings I've been to, there was only one where the wedding cake was actually worth eating. Most of them are just this dry, floury sponge with margarine-heavy frosting—honestly, they're pretty mediocre. So, since I’m a total foodie, I had one very specific wish for my own big day: I want an actual, delicious cake.😁

As for Luke, I wander around here and there looking for a decent cake or a muffin, and honestly, they’re always hits for me. You can just tell when someone isn't cutting corners and actually uses high-quality ingredients. Your best bet is to just ask for a sample tasting before you commit. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I saw that too. It’s kind of cute. But how does it actually work—do they just sign it and toss it in? Can you hang something like that up somewhere too?

I went with the A2 size for the dream prints because there are so many of us... though I doubt everyone will actually leave one, haha. Her website is in German, but I'm pretty sure you can order in English or just reach out to them. As far as the photos go, the site doesn't show anything except our names and dates. The instruction sheet is in German, but I'll just print out my own version in English myself.
As for makeup, maybe check out Tina Kalinic, miss makeup, or Violeta Kekezovic... they seem great and you won't end up with that heavy, caked-on look.

How much did everything end up costing you? And what's the shipping fee?

I’m going with Miss Makeup in the end. Seems straightforward enough, and they don't charge for trials the same way they do for weddings.

As for parking, I found out you just have to notify the security guards beforehand and they let you in without any issues. My thing is in September, so it won't be peak season. Just one less thing to worry about.🎉

Thanks, but they don't have it at ST Offertiss, and honestly, I have zero creative bone in my body. I'd probably just screw it all up😁

Still on the hunt for a band and a photographer in ST. Every decent one is already booked—it’s an absolute nightmare 😢 I know exactly what vibe I want, but finding someone available is impossible.

Has anyone heard of Antea Mrčela? She seems a bit more modern to me..

Please, help me out 🙂

Noah James23, BTW, I found out you just have to notify the security guards when the cake arrives so they let the cars through, and that's it! And better yet—nothing needs to be paid 😉

Also looking for a makeup artist who won't make me look like a total freak. Come on, you bachelors from the San Francisco area, where are you hiding? 🙂
Is nobody from the parking enforcement actually going to slap a ticket on you for parking over by the farmer's market? Or are you talking about the main downtown plaza? Also, when’s the wedding scheduled for—which month?

Thanks for the link to the guest book, but is this thing written in German? 😁 And how many of those prints are there? Our party is a bit smaller...
Something like this https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...fcd819cdd7.jpg

And for the guest book, maybe go with something like this https://img0.etsystatic.com/030/0/7757611/il_340x270.575319890_2hst.jpg
Thanks, I don't really mind paying for the trial makeup session, since I'm definitely going to use the excuse to head out somewhere 🙂

Does anyone happen to know where I could pick up those card storage boxes here in the States? Also, I'm looking for a different kind of guest book—maybe one of those tree designs where people can sign their names or leave fingerprints? I saw it on Pinterest and honestly, I'm pretty obsessed with the idea.
Hey there 🙂 I’m getting married this fall in San Francisco and I could really use some info and advice if anyone here is experienced with this stuff. We booked our date pretty fast so we’re kind of racing against the clock, and honestly, the panic is already starting to set in. So far, we’ve secured a venue, but we’re still deciding on a church. Ideally, I’d love somewhere near the waterfront—maybe something like Saint Dominic, Duke, or Frank. Also, for the ladies who’ve been through this, how did you handle parking? Do you need some specific permit from the city or what?
Also, I need a recommendation for a band. I want both male and female vocals, specifically a powerful female lead, and they need to play urban music—nothing cheesy or folk-style—and the price shouldn't go over $2,000. I also need a recommendation for a modern photographer and videographer where the whole package stays under $1,000. I hope I'm not asking for too much 🙂. Oh, and any makeup recommendations? I really want to do a trial run first. Anyway, I know that's a lot of questions, but thanks so much for any help you can give 🙂
