Kyle Campbell3 said:I’d honestly prefer somewhere out in the countryside, provided there's a chance the house has a pool. It’s August, after all—it’s going to be brutal. And yeah, I've checked Airbnb and Booking, but along with everything else, nobody wants to rent a place out for just a single day.🙂🙂

I completely hear you. We actually ended up finding two houses out in the Sinj Valley. Both had their own pools and massive yards. One had five bedrooms and the other had seven, and we managed to snag them for just two nights. The trick was contacting the owners directly. Once we got them on the phone, we found they were way more willing to work with us than any big platform would be. Hopefully, that gives you a bit of a lead. x

After everything I’ve been through lately, I’m looking to start fresh and was wondering if anyone here has any leads on a rental house suitable for a girls' getaway. I’m specifically looking for availability around two dates—either June 15th or August 10th, 2019. Ideally, we'd love something in the vicinity of San Francisco, though I’d prefer to stay away from places like Denver or Savannah. If anyone has any recommendations or knows of a spot, I would truly appreciate the help. Thanks in advance!😵
Are you looking to stay right in the heart of the city where everything is walkable and you can just head out whenever you feel like it? Or are you more in the mood for a quick one or two-night getaway somewhere quiet where you can actually relax and soak it all in? We spent some time scrolling through Airbnb and honestly, we found some really lovely spots.

What’s everyone’s total budget looking like for the entire wedding? Honestly, everything I’m seeing feels a bit astronomical lately—every single vendor I check out, whether it’s the venue, catering, the band, or the photographer, seems to be hitting that $2,000 mark per item. It feels completely unreasonable, haha, though perhaps I’m just being unrealistic.

We were originally dreaming of an outdoor wedding, something nestled in nature, so I’ve been scouting out various vineyards and orchards. The ones that actually offer those picturesque settings certainly know how to charge a premium, while the others don't really cater to that vibe at all. In the end, we’ll most likely settle on hosting a backyard BBQ on private property. Has anyone here gone that route before? Specifically regarding the music and the neighbors—is there much to worry about? Are there certain local ordinances or noise rules I should be mindful of?

Right now, we’re in the thick of searching for a band... so far, the only acts I’ve come across are Euphoria and Peter D. They sound ABSOLUTELY incredible, but they are definitely out of my price range. I’ve also been considering a traditional vocal group or even just hiring a DJ. If anyone has any recommendations for bands, vocal groups, or DJs, please send them my way!

Thanks everyone, and all the best.

If you're going for something "modern" with a smaller guest list, you could always just rent a massive vacation house that has a huge yard, a pool, and all that stuff.

Here are some cool weddings I've been to so far that might give you some ideas:
- Castillo de San Marcos
- Getty Villa
- The White House
- The Breakers
- A Cruise ship (swimming, lunch, partying)
- A vacation rental up in Malibu (far from neighbors, killer views, big courtyard, a huge indoor space just in case it rains, and a pool)

...you just have to keep in mind that the weather can be super unpredictable, especially in September, so you might get hit with a downpour and you definitely need a backup plan to tuck everyone away indoors.

Update: my bad, I assumed you were in San Francisco so I was suggesting spots around the SF area.

Thank you so much. Yes, we are looking specifically in the San Francisco area... we aren't local ourselves, but our family is there, so it makes more sense to host it near them. Honestly, most of Central California works for us. However, those venues you mentioned seem a bit steep (expensive) to me—at least based on what I know. If you happen to have a specific name or location for a house in Malibu, I'd love to take a look. I've been scouring Airbnb and similar sites trying to find somewhere with a decent yard or estate, but nothing has quite hit the mark yet.
My dear friends,

It is such a pleasure reading through your posts; I’m truly glad this community exists.

I am also getting married this year, though we’ve only just begun the whirlwind of planning. If all goes according to our vision, we hope to officially tie the knot this coming September.

That said, I’ve run into a bit of a dilemma. I suffer from quite a severe case of claustrophobia, and frankly, the idea of being stuck in a banquet hall makes me incredibly uneasy. My heart is set on an outdoor ceremony—somewhere open and airy, perhaps a sprawling meadow, a vineyard, or an orchard out in the California countryside. Does anyone have any suggestions for potential venues or specific local regulations I should be aware of? Truly, any ideas, advice, or even a little guidance would be immensely appreciated.

Thanks in advance to you all.
