Mistaken wire transfer/payment error in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Carl Doyle92 said:Hey everyone, I’m running into a bit of a headache here. A guy needed to wire me $50 so I could get some items shipped out to him via mail. We had a clear agreement: nothing moves until the funds actually hit my account. He claims he already sent the $50 and even sent over a screenshot from his online banking app to prove it. I checked the details, and the account number matches mine perfectly, but the money is still nowhere to be found. He initiated the transfer on Thursday evening through Chase, sending it to my account at Wells Fargo. I’ve attached the confirmation photo he sent me—does anyone know if there's an extra step where he needs to authorize the payment, or is this just a typical delay on the bank's end?

Frankly, I don't see any reason for him to play games; I was very explicit about not shipping anything until the balance shows up in my account. I even went out of my way to tell him repeatedly that I wouldn't budge until the funds cleared, specifically so he wouldn't think I was the one trying to pull a fast one.

That isn't a paid invoice; it’s just a scheduled payment. Once he actually settles it, he can easily download the PDF confirmation.

Just wait for it to show up in your bank account and ignore those sketchy screenshots.

I’d say I’m interested in these kinds of gadgets when they're used as HD players, but this lineup is off to a pretty rough start—they completely overlooked multi-channel digital audio.

Most of the devices I've looked at don't even have an optical or coaxial S/PDIF output, which seems like a huge oversight since it basically ignores anyone still using older A/V gear that lacks HDMI. (And honestly, I can't even tell if the chipset is capable of handling it anyway)

Plus, with just an HDMI port, it’s anyone's guess whether digital audio actually works through it or what kind of bandwidth we're looking at—like, does it support 5.1, 7.1, or what?

That said, the price point looks promising, and I suspect we'll see plenty of other models hitting the market soon—maybe some that actually include S/PDIF

If anyone ends up testing out the audio via HDMI through an A/V receiver, I’d be curious to hear how it actually performs.
