Pure professionalism, step by step.🤣
There are three ways to play it.☕
1. You taper down the dosage, like going from 20 mg to 10 mg. Then you go even lower until you’re off.
2. You space out the doses more than the prescription calls for. If it's twice a day, switch to once a day, then back to twice tomorrow, then once again the next day—just drift away from it slowly.
3. Cold turkey. It's a total mess, but people do it. Not that I'm recommending it.😵
Oh boy, look at you acting like you don't know how the process works...😒
The actual issue is something else entirely—are you actually ready to stop taking the ADs?
Yeah, that's exactly the catch. The fear of that absolute nightmare is what's holding me back... and honestly, I don't know if I'll ever feel ready. P.S. mellowtinker7, so good to see you popping up here after being gone for so long.🙂
Anyone got any advice or actual experience with successfully stepping away from Adderall? I’ve been in therapy for about a year and a half now. Physically and mentally, I’ve recovered quite well, but the thought of that absolute hellscape I went through still haunts me. It’s constant. On paper, life is actually going great—I’ve made solid strides both personally and in my career—but the anxiety just sits there. It’s always present. My doctor told me to stop once I feel truly ready, rather than waiting for some perfect, zen-like day that probably isn't coming.
David Jackson22 and Kimberly Morris, you're both in my thoughts. I’ll be saying a prayer for you tonight, hoping things turn around quickly... Just try to remember that nothing—absolutely nothing—is permanent. Right now, your brain is just playing tricks on you because of this stupid depression. The meds will kick in eventually. You both have the best possible reasons to hang in there just a little longer. One of you has a little one on the way, and the other has two right by their side. So stay strong. I'm rooting for you both!

I feel like I'm in a complete fog. This depression is just brutal... I suppose this is just what the adjustment period feels like.
Bitchy, and anyone else who mentioned those brutal side effects when starting ADA—I really hope you guys are feeling at least a little better by now. Regarding things getting worse before they get better, my psychiatrist argued that my depression was actually spiking during the first ten days, though she wasn't sure if that was the meds kicking in or just the illness progressing. She also insisted Zoloft wouldn't cause weight gain, but honestly? I'm gaining weight. I eat the same stuff, but the scale keeps moving up. So, what I’m trying to say is: doctors are great and we need them, but I think we help each other out way more by sharing advice—especially those of us who have actually made it through the worst of it.
Hey everyone. Is anyone else dealing with panic attacks while on ADHD meds? It’s been a while, and these lately have been milder and shorter, but they're definitely happening. How are you all handling this? Does it mean I necessarily need to stay on treatment longer? Do you feel like you've taken a few steps backward when the panic hits despite being on medication?

But recently, I hit another rough patch—mostly obsessive thoughts, though it all basically boils down to me feeling like my eyes are broken or something... anyway, the diagnosis stayed the same. Coming off Paxil at first was a total nightmare; it took about a month just to feel like I wasn't losing my mind. Once I got past that, though, things started looking up and eventually, all the symptoms just faded away
Well, I’m rooting for you. Fingers crossed. Was it easier the second time around when this hit? I mean, knowing what it is and having a prescription ready... or did it actually feel worse this time?

I was on Seroxat for quite a while—it hits a bit harder than Zoloft. After that, I managed to stay off meds for about six months since things were looking up. But then everything flared up again, just in a different way, so she put me back on 50mg of Zoloft and 0.5mg of Helex
If you don't mind me asking, how did the first bout compare to the second? And how was the taper process?

What’s your dosage, and how much are you taking? Also, how many days into the treatment did this emotional numbness kick in?
Thanks for the input, everyone. I’ve been on my meds for a few months now, but I can't stop obsessing over those first two weeks. Everything just went downhill fast—depression spiked and it was brutal. Honestly, I’m still not sure if the meds actually triggered the slump or if the illness was just doing its thing, but man, it was unbearable. I don't even know how I made it through. On top of that, I hit this wall of total emotional numbness. Has anyone else dealt with that feeling of being completely hollowed out, like you can't feel a single damn thing? Ugh, just thinking about it gives me chills. Thankfully, it hasn't happened again.
Hey everyone. Did anyone else deal with a massive dip in mood during those first two weeks of starting Zoloft? Like, my depression actually felt way worse before the meds finally kicked in. Is that actually a thing?
