So, I've been on Luxet for three weeks now. I'm feeling better... sort of... but my mind is still racing. One day I’m absolutely killing it—smiling, full of energy, totally carefree, zero intrusive thoughts. Then the next? Total washout. I spend the entire day spiraling about how bad things used to be, getting stuck in those "what if" loops, and the whole day is just wasted. Then, boom, another day where I feel super, no nonsense at all, followed by another low. It’s been cycling like this for a week. Is this kind of roller coaster normal when you're first starting out?
Kevin Bailey2 said:Honestly, I have no idea what you'd even swap Xanax for... if you're looking for something milder, you're probably out of luck.
So, let me get this straight: you fall asleep at night without the Xanax, then you wake up too early and take the Xanax just to crash again? Am I reading that right? And you actually feel well-rested even without the Xanax?
Then why are you even using Xanax? If your body isn't demanding tons of sleep and you're feeling rested... just ride it out for a bit. Eventually, you'll start sleeping longer if it's actually bothering you.
In my opinion, you don't need Xanax at all, and you definitely don't need a replacement. Most of those other options are just different versions of the same crap.
Exactly. I fall asleep without Xanax, wake up later, can't get back to sleep, so I take Xanax and pass out.
Last night, I took Xanax around 9 PM thinking I'd sleep through the night, but I still woke up at 2:30 AM and had to take more. Then I slept until 9 AM.
I'm going to try going without Xanax. I have zero intention of getting hooked on something I don't even need... even if it means pulling an all-nighter.
I'm on Luxet. Day 11. Feeling better overall, but I've been waking up at the exact same time three nights in a row. 4:30 AM, and I'm wide awake. Last night, I finally drifted off around midnight only to snap awake at 2:30 AM, feeling like I'd slept for three days straight. When I wake up in the middle of the night, I just take some Xanax 0.25 to get back under, even if there isn't much reason for it. I don't want to switch from Luxet, but I really need to find something else to replace the Xanax...
Anyone here actually used Luxet before?
I started taking half a pill yesterday, and while I haven't hit any other side effects, my heart is absolutely hammering in my chest. It’s unbearable. It’s driving me crazy. I didn't sleep at all last night—maybe five hours tops—and I woke up with my heart racing again. It’s constant. I also feel like I can’t catch my breath. I take Xanax too, which helps momentarily, but once it wears off about five hours later, the palpitations come right back. I originally started this because of panic attacks, anxiety, and obsessive thoughts, but the panic attacks actually stopped a month ago. I might not even need help with those anymore. Now, the only thing messing with me is this nagging feeling that I’m going to lose my mind, though that passes pretty quickly.
College stress has been brutal. During the week, I’d take Xanax 0.25 (sometimes two tablets a day), but by the weekend, I felt totally fine. I wasn't feeling sick at all. However, I lost my appetite, so I went to see my doctor. She told me I was overusing Xanax and suggested trying an antidepressant instead. I wasn't thrilled, but I went along with it. Right before I started this med, I felt completely okay.
Honestly, I regret starting it. I'm thinking about quitting because I don't think I need an antidepressant. I haven't been struggling this long anyway—only about five months—and I'm only 22. I feel way too young to be on this stuff already.
If anyone has experience with this, give me some advice. I have no idea what to do. Should I stick with this antidepressant, try a different one, or just try to manage without meds altogether? 😕🤷
