Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·
urbanotter said:He really is that unpredictable,

especially when the mob starts shouting "hang them all" while urbanotter argues we should at least hold a trial to determine individual guilt before jumping to executions.

I feel like I’ve made my position clear several times now; my view aligns perfectly with what Pope Francis has said in full, rather than the butchered versions you see played out in the media.

Anyway, I'm done talking about him because the real issue here is the sanctions on Russia.
If you actually have something meaningful to contribute regarding those sanctions—since that is the actual subject at hand—then let's talk. This isn't about urbanotter's personal leanings.

You're lying.

I remember hearing people brag about how Ukrainians managed to seize howitzers and tanks from the Russians and then used them to strike back.

Honestly, one single howitzer like that is worth more than two massive shipments of wheat.

That didn't seem to bother you much back when things were happening in the Middle East, nor did it seem to catch your eye.

Maybe it’s because they were just handing the ammunition right back to them.😁

Anyway, moving on.

Let us know if there's any news regarding the new round of sanctions; I heard they had another meeting today.
Hopefully, they actually came up with something useful instead of just sitting around sipping champagne.

Are you seriously comparing seizing weapons from an invader to stealing wheat? 🤦

Do you realize there is a massive difference between those two things? It’s a rhetorical question. I realized long ago that everything in your universe is distorted and completely lacks common sense or logic.

Nancy Gomez26 said:What you actually mean is they’ll be offered a favorable financial arrangement to procure weapons and gear—tools to drive the occupiers out of their own land. A clean transaction, a debt of gratitude, no hidden strings or lingering "tails" that typically haunt such arrangements.

There is this constant attempt here to push the narrative that Ukrainians are merely fighting someone else's war. They are primarily fighting for themselves and the sovereignty of their nation. For them, there is a massive distinction between living under the sphere of influence of Russia or being aligned with Western Europe. That matters deeply—and they have already made their choice.

Yesterday Dmitry Peskov claimed the only way to end the war is for Ukraine to cede territory to Russia. That confirms this is nothing more than a land grab, yet people here still insist on rambling about American interests. Unbelievable.

AJ, why don't you just head to Ukraine? I heard Zelenko pays well.

Then why don't you move to Russia?
Every single one of your posts reeks of a pathological hatred for the West. It's unclear what you're still doing here. What exactly are you waiting for? For the USA and England to turn into proletarian states? 🤔

The real issue is that most people don't think for themselves; they let someone else do their mental heavy lifting.

At this rate, paying through the nose for energy costs is just another way of shooting ourselves in the foot.

So, I guess you're one of the rare geniuses actually using your brain while the rest of us are just mindless drones incapable of forming our own opinions? 🤔

No, paying premium prices for fuel isn't "normal," just like refusing to see who is actually responsible for this mess isn't normal either.

Pope Francis blames the West for escalating the war in Ukraine? 'We aren't seeing the full drama unfolding in the background'

https://www.nytimes.com/news/pope-ukraine-west-drama-1594481

He doesn't say a single word about the sanctions or the actual strikes on Russia; he just completely misses the point and goes off on tangents.

The best proof of how effective these sanctions actually are is the sheer volume of posts you "neutrals" vomit out every day trying to prove they aren't working. 👍

You need to decide if you actually respect this man and his views, or if you only care about them when journalists spin his words to fit your "neutral" narrative. You can't claim neutrality while refusing to condemn the aggression from Russia’s fascist scum against a sovereign nation.

Just a reminder:
I agree completely with Pope Francis. Even though I'm not a believer, I respect him as a man.

Let me restate his position one more time:
It’s time to admit that armed conquest, expansionism, and imperialism have absolutely nothing to do with the kingdom Jesus proclaimed.

Look at that. He didn't put "aggression" in quotes like you did. ☕

urbanotter said:It doesn't even occur to you to look up what Pope Francis actually thinks regarding the Russian aggression against Ukraine and whether sanctions are morally effective.

Even if you aren't a Christian, a Catholic, or a believer, you should at least be following what the head of the Catholic Church has to say about this whole situation with the invasion and the sanctions.🙄

You mean this?
The Pope implicitly accused Russia of aggression and imperialism in Ukraine.

Or do you just cherry-pick quotes whenever it suits your narrative? ☕

urbanotter said:I haven't said anything about justifying anyone's actions—not just Russia's "aggression" toward Ukraine.
It feels like if you aren't standing right here next to us and thinking exactly like we do, then you must be our enemy, which is such a flawed way to look at things.

I made my position very clear a long time ago, and I’ve stayed consistent about where I stand.

And just so I don't go off on a tangent—which I know you all love to accuse me of doing—

my perspective aligns closely with what Pope Francis has shared, and while I'm not a religious man myself, I have a great deal of respect for him as a human being.

Whether people call him Pope Francis Putofil or debate whether he's actually justifying aggression against anyone, that's beside the point.

I'm asking you please to stop veering off-topic and projecting things onto me that I have never said and certainly don't believe.🙂🙂

The quotation marks tell me everything I need to know about you.
It’s an objective fact that this is aggression, yet you lack the decency to admit it. Your arguments are just as hollow as your rhetoric.

urbanotter said:That comparison feels a bit weak to me, and honestly, it doesn't really address what we're talking about here.

But let me ask you this: how would you react if you were surrounded by women, and there was one particular woman who meant everything to you,

only to have someone swoop in and take all of them away, eventually setting their sights on your favorite one too?
Would you actually invite me out for a beer to celebrate the fact that I stole your lady, or would you be looking to shoot me in the foot?

Anyway, is there anything new happening on your end regarding those self-imposed sanctions? Maybe we can get back to that topic, provided we don't both catch COVID and end up stuck in total isolation.😉

Why are you so hell-bent on justifying one country's aggression against another?

urbanotter said:Drop the link. I don't care about myths. I breezed through those stories back in elementary school and actually liked them. I know plenty of their gods and heroes
from Heraclitus and Eddie all the way to Jason

But the topic here is sanctions Russia, not mythology.

The cost of producing a single barrel of Brent crude oil came in at around $42 for Russian onshore projects, and $44 for offshore projects, IHS Markit estimated. That was more than twice the $17 per barrel production costs in Saudi Arabia — the cheapest in the world.

Oil production in Russia costs $42 a barrel. In Saudi Arabia, it's $17, which is the lowest. Where did you get that $7 figure from? Probably from the myths you're always spinning.

If everything is going so smoothly for them, why the constant whining about sanctions? 🤔

And that Russian steamroller? It’s already warmed up and ready to roll......

That’s why it takes the Russians a whole week just to gain a single kilometer...
Imagine how bad it would be if the Ukrainians actually had some strength behind them. 🤣

hollowdriver13 said:He’s over here bashing the West while he EATS food grown and produced right here in the West... honestly, is there any actual proof that specific gas comes from Russian oil, whereas you somehow know exactly which country your food came from?

And FYI, when it comes to fuel production, the industry usually prefers Sahara or Middle Eastern light crude because it doesn't need as much refining; Russian heavy crude is actually better suited for products made by companies like Dow Chemical.

Watch out you don't stare too long in the mirror—it might crack under the sheer weight of that hypocrisy.

Don't forget he’s posting this on a forum built by an American company. If he’s typing on a PC, it’s because Americans invented them. If he’s using an OS, he’s using some software designed by those "hated" American tech giants. If he’s on a phone, he’s relying on the systems of those "hated" American capitalists.

Without the hated West, he'd be stuck carving letters into clay tablets.☕

Regarding the comparisons, at least the Russians didn't waste twenty years and billions of dollars just to swap one set of Taliban for another.

Reading your praise for Russia after this total disaster in Ukraine is honestly hilarious. Pure entertainment. 🍿 🤣
