Traffic violation procedures in Criminal and Misdemeanor Law ·
About six months ago, I found a ticket tucked under my windshield wiper from $100, and since I haven't settled up yet, the police just sent me another notice saying the payment is due. I’m wondering, what actually happens next in this process? To be honest, I had this ridiculous fine $33 once before where they mailed notices to my house two or three times, and even after all those warnings, nothing ever came of it. It just vanished into the ether. Anyway, these tickets feel absolutely absurd because I wasn't even endangering anyone; I just parked right behind a sign where the no-parking zone begins—which is laughable when you realize it's perfectly legal just three feet ahead. Has anything changed with recent legislation, and what’s the best way to handle this to avoid paying? I really don't see the point in handing over my money. It feels like the big shots and their sons can park wherever they please without a second thought, while us regular people get squeezed for every cent, even when what we're doing isn't even a real violation.
