Traffic violation procedures

Does anyone have experience with statutes of limitations? I committed a traffic violation about a year and a half ago. I’ve already gone to court twice to contest it because I wasn't at fault. Based on the old laws that were in effect when the violation happened, I’m looking at less than six months before the statute of limitations kicks in. I just received the judgment, and I’m planning to appeal. My question is: does the time spent processing my appeal count toward that limitation period, or does the clock reset or extend once a judgment is handed down?
