I completely forgot to mention! We visited the Dental Clinic earlier. It had such a pleasant atmosphere—not crowded at all—since it’s a private practice. They have one or two small rooms there that I assume are used for checkups or minor procedures.
The exam itself took about an hour. We went through everything, including testing with two different machines and checking his prescription by having him read from a book. And—get this—he scored a perfect five on everything! The exam $83 was thorough, though from what I observed, the pricing isn't fixed; the people in before us were paying different amounts.
They actually have their own optical shop right in the courtyard, but we decided to head over to that Hektorovićev place for the "look look sav biti 50 %" deal 😉. Everything was 50% off, including almost all frames.
We picked out a really modern, slim black and red frame for my son, complete with the prescription, anti-scratch coating, and blue light protection for computer use—all of that came to $433. However, I should note that the lenses alone cost about $283. Because my son has albinism and nystagmus, they had to custom order them, so I imagine it would be much more affordable for someone else. Now we're just waiting; they told us they’d give us a call in about 7 to 10 days once the glasses arrive.

Well, I finally managed to get through on the phone today, though it was quite a struggle. The line was constantly busy, but I simply refused to give up. It turns out they have a specialized pediatric clinic that only operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Fortunately, I’ve managed to secure an appointment for tomorrow. The lady who answered the phone was rather unpleasant—honestly, one has to practically interrogate her just to extract any useful information. She wouldn't even mention that a referral isn't necessary since they don't accept them, nor would she disclose the cost of the exam until I really pressed her for details. Generally speaking, the price for an eye exam depends on what the ophthalmologist needs to check; it ranges from $250 up to $117. So now, I am quite curious to see how everything unfolds tomorrow. I will certainly keep you all posted. Oh, and one more thing—the woman also mentioned that they have both male and female ophthalmologists on staff, and they offer those computer-based diagnostic tests, though apparently, those aren't specific to children but are just part of the doctor's standard toolkit...

I am actually facing a bit of a challenge myself, specifically regarding my son. He deals with rotational nystagmus, and for years now, we have been going to Rebro. They utilize computer-aided vision control, but finding the right glasses for him has always been an uphill battle. Currently, I am feeling quite lost trying to figure out our next steps because I haven't heard of anyone else possessing that specific type of equipment. We did consult with Kraljević, but he prefers not to get too deeply involved in this particular approach; while he does have the device, he suggested that we would be better off seeing a specialized ophthalmologist instead.
The real issue with our visits to Rebro is that they consistently—and I mean *always*—schedule us for daily eye exercises. It requires us to head up there for two hours every single day, which, when you consider his school schedule and extracurricular activities, has become completely unmanageable.
I think I might give the Exact clinic a try since it's quite close to us, and from there, we will see what happens regarding the glasses...

I find myself in a bit of a predicament and could use some guidance from the group. I just went ahead and cleared out my entire inbox—both sent and received messages—leaving me with a grand total of only seven messages. Despite this, another member is telling me they can't send me a private message because apparently, my inbox is still full. If anyone has encountered this little glitch before, I would truly appreciate your insight!
Are you suggesting I was at fault? Do you honestly believe I shouldn't have settled that bill? Goodness me...
I must admit, my understanding of legal intricacies is somewhat lacking, and perhaps I was a bit hasty in failing to consult with a professional attorney before moving forward...
Regarding that whole "red" situation—well, that’s just what they were telling me, everyone was practically jumping down my throat about it... claiming I'm some sort of legal heir. In reality, I have absolutely no biological connection to the man who passed away, if that's what you're wondering. It's much simpler than that: I essentially just reclaimed the living space directly above my own unit, since it's all one single entrance and one cohesive house. Back in the old days, under the previous administration, they actually took a portion of my great-grandmother's property and moved the child of a fallen soldier into that upper section, effectively splitting the house into two separate parts. Naturally, following his passing, I worked to take it back into my possession... though, goodness, it was an uphill battle involving mountains of paperwork and a significant amount of both money and sanity.
Well, there’s always a catch, isn't there? There are all these little loopholes in the law that us regular folks just aren't privy to. I actually had someone working over at Exelon tell me that, technically, the city should have been footing the bill since the apartment is municipal property. But, of course, the city refuses to pay, so the responsibility fell squarely on my shoulders... It was quite intimidating, too; they even tried to imply I could face jail time because electricity theft is such a massive issue for them right now—chilling, really—and I hadn't transferred the meter yet. It was just dreadful. Honestly, thank goodness I managed to sort it out by taking out a small loan to cover the cost; otherwise, I might have ended up playing piano for pennies just to survive.
Honestly, there’s really no point in arguing with Exelon; they always win because they’re essentially backed by the state. I learned that the hard way. When I moved into my place, I discovered a mountain of unpaid utility bills dating back to who knows when—probably as far back as 1996—left behind by the previous tenant. Since the apartment was government-owned and he only had a leaseholder's right rather than actual ownership, I ended up stuck with his debt once I moved in. They told me they’d already filed a lawsuit over it, so I had no choice but to settle everything just to get the meter transferred into my name. Of course, I didn't receive a single cent of credit for any of this, even though decades have passed. In the end, I had to pay $6.00 because they tacked on legal fees, old balances, and God knows what else...
On top of that, the big boss at the electric company mentioned that unless you qualify for social assistance, they won't offer any installment plans. Apparently, the only way to get a deal is to literally get down on your knees and beg, and even then, they won't accept monthly payments lower than $1.00. It’s simply not worth their time to deal with smaller amounts, just so you know.
That company is truly a nightmare to deal with; there is absolutely no room for negotiation or reasonable compromise with them...
