Does anyone happen to know where I could pick one up?

I have a question and was hoping someone could help me out. I've got a Canon PIXMA IP1000 that’s probably about 8 or 9 years old now. For the most part, I've just been using third-party ink cartridges.

It was working perfectly fine until a few days ago. I ran out of color ink, so I popped in some new cartridges, but as soon as I tried to print, the thing just died. Now it won't stay on. It just blinks a light for a second and then shuts right off.

I tried messing around with it a bit, and I can sometimes get it to turn on if I lift the cover that holds the cartridges in place. But after that, one of two things happens: either it dies again right when it tries to print—just like before—or it actually starts printing, looks like it's doing its job, but ends up spitting out completely blank pages.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Yeah, I’m planning on grabbing that athlon x4 eventually, but when I do, I'll probably pick up a new motherboard and some RAM too. Right now, I was just wondering if there might be a better processor out there for a cheaper price.
Flashing the BIOS? Nah, I don't really want to mess around with that. For now, I'll just stick to the GPU and the power supply..

Hmm, I can pick up this 4850 for $233, but then there's this other one sitting at 650..
What does it actually mean when people say my processor is too weak for the GPU? Is it just that it won't reach its full potential, or are there other side effects, like maybe getting lower performance than if I had used a weaker card?

Oh, while I'm asking, what would be a decent upgrade for my CPU that still fits my current motherboard (AM2)?

My current setup is an AMD Athlon 64 x2 4000+ (2GHz), 2GB of RAM, an HD 2600XT, and some random budget power supply. It was pretty $33 cheap, but I guess it handles my current build without any major issues.
I’m looking to pick up a new graphics card. I’ve been eyeing the 4850, but I was wondering if there might be something else in that same performance bracket and price range that performs better or offers more value. I want something that fits my current rig because I don't want to change too much right now—whenever I finally do a full overhaul, I'll just replace everything at once.
I am planning on getting a Corsair HX450W for the power supply.

Let me know what you think. Does this plan seem solid, or should I consider changing something?
