Weak Wi-Fi signal issues in IT Support ·
wearymason4 said:Powerline adapters (sold in pairs) basically turn your electrical wiring into a wired connection. They could be a lifesaver if the router you got from your ISP is capping out under 50Mbps. But, if your speeds are higher than that, you're gonna need the adapters that support 1Gbps ethernet.
The standard move is to plug your laptop directly into the powerline adapter using a LAN cable—assuming you haven't fixed that shaky wifi situation yet.
ps: have you tried going into your router settings and locking the wireless channel to a specific one instead of leaving it on auto?

So I did a little digging and stumbled upon this wireless powerlink thing:

I haven't messed with the router channels yet. Honestly, I have no clue how to even do that—so if anyone could point me toward a guide or maybe a quick video showing the steps, that would be awesome. Would that actually help much?

Honestly, I feel like I’ve pretty much exhausted every single fix and workaround I could find online, but—sadly—nothing seems to actually work

Do you think I’d have better luck if I just picked up a Powerlink wireless adapter?

Hey everyone, I was hoping someone might be able to lend me a hand here. I just picked up a brand new laptop:

The Wi-Fi signal on this thing is honestly pretty terrible. It's kind of frustrating because my home internet—which I get through AT&T—is usually super stable and almost never drops out. But on this new machine, the speeds are all over the place. One second I'll see a download speed around 30 Mbps, then just a few seconds later it plummets down to maybe 2 or 3 Mbps... sometimes I don't even get an upload reading at all when I run a test. I should probably mention that I never had any issues with my old laptop, and I'm sitting in the exact same spot in my house using both machines. I already went ahead and installed the latest WLAN driver from the Lenovo site. I'm running Windows 11 Pro, if that matters for some reason.

I tried running speed tests every minute or so, and well, here is what I'm seeing:

And this is the specific WLAN card inside:

https://prnt.sc/26giyhx

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

Thanks so much
