I’ve been watching a lot of college sports lately, and I swear the way coaches handle the starting lineup situation has changed so much. It used to feel like a real mystery until the first kickoff, but now it feels like they’re making these big announcements weeks or even months before the season actually gets moving.
I remember back in the day, you’d just show up to the first game and find out who the guy was by watching the depth chart or seeing who actually took the snaps. Now, there’s so much hype and "official" naming happening during training camp that it almost feels like they're trying to settle the debate before the players even have a chance to prove themselves on the field.
Does anyone else feel like these early announcements take some of the drama out of the preseason? Or am I just being cynical about how much media coverage every single roster move gets these days?
