I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how much easier it is to push through a grind when you're fighting for someone else rather than just yourself. For me, it's always been about proving something to my family. Do you guys find that your personal beliefs or your people are what actually keep you going when you hit a wall?
I spent the better part of my Sunday digging through various guides and "expert" rankings, trying to find that perfect edge for my league this year. Honestly, after a few seasons of doing this, I’m starting to wonder if all the deep-dive preparation actually matters.
Last year, I spent weeks analyzing target shares and injury histories, thinking I had the perfect blueprint. I felt so prepared. Then the draft started, and a few unexpected picks early on completely threw my entire logic out the window. I ended up stumbling into a decent roster mostly because of a few lucky bounces, while the guy who "studied" the most in my league finished in last place.
It feels like there’s a massive gap between the simple stuff everyone knows and the hyper-complex analytics that most people can't even apply in real-time. Sometimes I think the best move is just to follow your gut, but then I feel like a total amateur.
For those of you who take this seriously, do you actually rely on a set of specific rules you follow, or do you just wing it once the clock starts ticking?
