Is it just me, or does it feel like certain high-level roles are starting to use their leverage way more aggressively lately? It feels like a massive gamble to signal you're willing to walk before the ink is even dry.
Look, obviously she saw some blood, there's no arguing that. But it feels a little silly that she didn't bother checking what the actual issue was when I explicitly told her my cycle wasn't acting the way it usually does. 😢Anyway, it doesn't matter much right now. I'll just take a test and go from there.🙂 😱If things haven't cleared up by the time the holidays roll around, then I'm going to have a much more serious sit-down with her. 🤔
The instructions say you can use it starting from the very first day your period is late... but mine wasn't even late, it was just incredibly light. Still, I'll get it done this week. I'm going to use a tampon today just to see if there's any lingering spotting left, and if not, I'll probably just run the test tomorrow or the day after.
We always use protection, and I make sure things don't end up inside me even then, but this time we had our first real scare when the condom slipped. As for tracking fertile days... honestly, I wouldn't trust it. My cycle is all over the place, and since I wasn't seeing anyone seriously, I didn't see the point in being on the pill. Now I’m thinking about starting them, though I’m constantly fighting a losing battle with my weight and I'm terrified the hormones will make me gain more. But whatever, I guess I just have to deal with it.
Anyway, I went to see my OBGYN last week to talk about my periods and get a plan for the pill, and let me tell you, it was a total letdown. She wouldn't even address why my flow is so weird; she just sent me home because I was still on my period and she couldn't perform an exam or anything. She told me to schedule a Pap smear instead—but by then, I hadn't seen any blood on my pad for two whole days, which just left me even more confused!!
When I asked if there was a chance I was pregnant, she was just like, "Well, it's possible, it's always possible. Take a test, and if it's negative, come back for the Pap. If it's positive, give me a call." Just totally nonchalant. Meanwhile, I've been breaking out in cold sweats from pure anxiety and dread.
So, I'm still stuck in limbo. I haven't learned a thing. I bought a test, but since I'm still spotting a little bit, I'm not sure if it's worth doing it right now or if I should wait until this "period" completely clears out. 🤷
All I know is: public health clinics 👎👎
Maybe I shouldn't have had that drink... and honestly, I don't plan on making a habit of it. Instead, I think I’ll just ask my doctor to call in a refill for my birth control. Look, what you wrote here is actually pretty comforting, really. But at the same time... everyone is constantly buzzing about how you can get pregnant from even the slightest chance of contact. It’s getting harder to tell what’s actually true and who you can even trust anymore.
Thomas Roberts9 — yeah, I took the pill afterward.
Sophia Nelson67 — Look, there’s no shame in not knowing something and just owning up to it. Real shame comes from acting like you have all the answers. Nobody is an expert on everything, and nobody is the smartest person in the room. We’re all just students of life until the day we die. It’s pretty clear you aren't grasping that concept... so, please, just let it go.
Look, it’s not like we just randomly decided out of nowhere that things could go from an anal encounter to vaginal one... there was a reason for it. I was scared (and no, I’m not going into the specifics of what actually happened, okay?!), but don't worry, I’m well-informed on how this works. However, I’ve never had a situation where a condom got left inside me and resulted in this much bleeding, and that’s why I reached out here. It wasn't because of the anal part—which is why I didn't go into detail about that—so please don't dwell on that aspect. Just focus on the issue that's actually bothering me... do you have any idea what this is or why it's happening?
It’s honestly such a letdown when you reach out to someone for actual advice and they just end up making you feel embarrassed instead... 😢
The whole thing about the specific type of protection isn't even my main concern right now. What's actually weighing on me is this whole situation from New Year's. Since we weren't using a condom, I can't help but worry. I've read that pregnancy is possible just from pre-ejaculate before things even reach a climax, and that thought is stuck in my head. On top of that, I'm noticing my period is unusually light and dark this time. If anyone actually wants to offer some helpful insight, please do—but if you're just here to mock me, do us both a favor and keep your comments to yourself...
thanks
I know this thread is pretty old, but I’m dealing with something similar so...
Here is the situation... my last period started on December 10th. It was already nine days late, which is weird because my cycle is usually super regular—about 30 days. A few days after that, my boyfriend and I had anal sex, and he finished inside me. We panicked thinking some might have leaked toward the front where it shouldn't go, so I took an emergency contraceptive pill. About a week later, my period arrived and wrapped up on December 29th. Then, my boyfriend and I had sex again. This time we used a condom, but it actually slipped off inside me. He didn't ejaculate, and since it wasn't deep, we figured it just slid out when he pulled away. During the act, we both noticed some blood, which confused me because my period should have been over by then. The next day, I realized I had a small tear—kind of like a laceration near the vaginal opening—so I just assumed that was where the blood was coming from since it seemed significant. But then, two days ago, my period came back. This time it’s different; it’s just these dark, clumpy, cheese-like bits and it's incredibly light. Now I'm spiraling a bit wondering if there's any chance I could be pregnant?? Please, if anyone has advice before I can make it to a doctor (I can't get to a clinic right now)😕 😢
Well, it looks like things are settling down. The swelling is gone today, and honestly, I don’t have a fever at all. I actually feel pretty great. 🙂
I was definitely worried about what would happen if I caught it even after being vaccinated... 🤷 but I did make sure to get all my shots.
I’ve got a follow-up appointment tomorrow, so we’ll see what the doctor has to say...
Thanks for getting back to me 🙂
Has anyone here dealt with mumps in their early 20s??
Here’s my situation—I woke up yesterday with this swelling behind, under, and slightly in front of my ear. It was pretty tender to the touch. I went to see my doctor today, and she ordered some blood work because she suspected it might be mumps. My results came back totally normal, though. She just told me to keep an eye on my temperature, use cold compresses, and come back tomorrow if things get worse, or wait until Wednesday for a follow-up.
Honestly, I'm just left feeling confused. I still don't know if it actually is mumps or not. To make matters more complicated, I'm supposed to meet my boyfriend tomorrow. I've heard that it can be dangerous for guys, and I really don't want him catching whatever this is. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I should even be kissing him...
😢
