Is it just me, or does it feel like every time you turn around, the math for basic living just doesn't add up anymore? I was looking at my monthly overhead the other day and realized how much more "friction" there is in the economy compared to even three or four years ago. It's not just the grocery bill, though that's a huge part of it; it's that sense that the gears are grinding harder and harder just to keep things moving.
I remember when a little bit of volatility was just background noise, but lately, it feels like we're constantly bracing for the next shift. There's this growing anxiety that we're stuck in a loop where the tools meant to stabilize things actually end up making everyone feel more precarious. It's hard to plan for the long term when the ground feels like it's constantly shifting under your feet.
