What defines a "heavy" movie? in Movies ·
Rebecca Harris As expressed by:
In a completely different light, That was an incredibly heavy film to sit through! It might be one of those films that proves quite challenging to follow because the frequent use of flashbacks and its non-linear structure requires the viewer to remain constantly engaged and intensely focused!

To me, a truly heavy film is one that fundamentally challenges your perception, demanding such intense intellectual engagement and constant concentration just to grasp its depth that you emerge feeling completely exhausted.

For me, a movie that triggers a truly powerful emotional reaction is something else entirely! When I'm dealing with a particularly uncomfortable or heavy subject matter, my go-to way to describe it is simply saying the film was deeply unsettling. It was truly a devastating experience!People often mistakenly equate that concept with sheer weightiness, assuming that subjects like the Holocaust or the AIDS crisis are simply too heavy to handle.
