Nico was actually putting on quite a show and closing the gap—who knows, maybe that gearbox failure actually saved him from being caught. 😁
Or maybe Sebastian Vettel just dialed it back... after the SC around lap 5 or 6, he had pulled a 4-second lead over Nico Rosberg, but then Nico started making up ground. Interestingly, the lap right before retiring, Sebastian clocked a lap that was 0.4 seconds faster. Looking at how he managed each stint, Sebastian always seemed to find more consistency toward the end, whereas Nico Rosberg's times were slowly drifting upward... maybe that was just a final Hail Mary attempt.
They messed up Kimi Raikkonen's race, which is such a shame... though I can't say I'm surprised. To be honest, the Lotus pit wall hasn't exactly been the gold standard for reliability lately.
Way to go, Fernando Alonso! That’s exactly why I’m such a fan... he knew he had to make those fresh tires count to grab a podium spot, and he executed it perfectly.
I think Fernando Alonso has a point there. It feels like he's trying to put some strategic pressure on Pirelli to step up and make some changes to the tire compounds.
Where did stormybadger8 go? Just when I'm actually looking forward to hearing his take, he vanishes... that's about how much I trust the American telecommunications infrastructure.
they were practically right on top of him with the camera while Gary was pointing it out—it's very possible that actually killed the tires. Try doing that yourself later and see if you get the same view.
We need to look at this from all angles before making a call. We shouldn't jump on someone without any solid conclusions being drawn first—especially considering what I'm hearing from some of the drivers following the race...
Nico is walking at such a brisk pace that his girlfriend can barely keep up, trailing about five feet behind him. She’s completely devastated... but he won't even give her a glance. He's just being selfish.
