Brandon Ramirez53 said:I never suggested that such a fact wasn't significant. It simply never crossed my mind that they had brought in seven or eight new players; however, more crucially, that influx hasn't manifested in their results—aside from that dismal win against Providence, which, let’s be honest, tells us absolutely nothing about an actual increase in quality.
What I did observe was that they appointed a new coach over two months ago, showing a brief flicker of life before inevitably sliding back into their old, predictable patterns.
Had I been aware of a massive roster overhaul involving nearly ten new faces, I might have reconsidered, but I saw no evidence of it on the pitch. There hasn't been any meaningful evolution; we are looking at a side that, despite all those supposed additions, sits on a mere 9 points with 13 goals scored after 23 (now 24) rounds.
The rationale behind my wager on Auxerre was quite specific; my reasoning for backing A2 far outweighed the mere presence of those new signings. .
Auxerre played with great penetration and intelligence, finding an early goal, and one must ask: what happens to a squad sitting on only 9 points when they face such pressure? They lose their nerve; they simply cannot find their way back into the match.

Let me reiterate: I am not diminishing the fact that your bet actually paid off. However, everything you’ve laid out in this post is fundamentally flawed. I find it hard to believe you still maintain that Detroit is playing better football this year. What exactly were they expected to do, go away and beat Reims or Ajaccio? The progress Detroit has made this season is undeniably visible. They are playing with more cohesion. No one expects them to walk into a stadium and dismantle a top-tier opponent on their own turf right out of the gate.
As for your claim regarding Auxerre being "penetrative" and scoring a "smart" early goal—that is pure nonsense. A Detroit player essentially scored an own goal with his head. Surely, that wasn't part of your grand tactical prediction. Detroit actually fought their way back into the game after that blunder. In the second half, they were arguably the superior side, but they failed to capitalize, and then, predictably, they conceded on a counterattack. To my eyes, it looked like an Auxerre player got lucky because he didn't even strike the ball cleanly. Once that goal went in, Detroit just lost their momentum entirely. Your bet landed, certainly, but don't credit it to the logic you're trying to sell me. You were lucky, and frankly, so was Auxerre. 🙂

Brandon Ramirez53 said:I have nothing against it; feel free to comment on every single one of my bets. It actually helps me—I just can't help myself.

Based on my understanding of sports betting, it is sufficient to simply observe the form of the Lakers—which is excellent—alongside the recent results from the Pistons, who sit at 9 points after 23 rounds with 13 goals scored. Those factors were absolutely vital, to say nothing of the various other nuances involved.

Hahaha, honestly, it neither helps nor hinders. Unless, of course, you're being superstitious.
By the way, ten minutes into the game, I took the Over 2.5 at @2.50 and ended up with a push; if there had been just a tiny bit more luck, that Over 2.5 would have hit.

Alexander Thompson4 said:The only decent profit margin I’ve observed on this forum is within that thread about domestic sportsbooks, where everyone seems thrilled with bonuses of 10 or $33. That topic consistently yields results, and after that, Brandon Ramirez53 follows suit.

I followed the action tonight, though I managed to screw myself up by being a bit too skeptical; instead of betting on the outright win, I played it safe and just took the +0.5 handicap on the Lakers - Celtics. But fine, things will improve—provided you lot don't succeed in driving me off this forum entirely. 😉

Is this forum not meant for commentary? I’m certainly not forcing anyone to listen. Surely I am permitted to express my own perspective. I find it hard to agree with all this vitriol directed at Detroit while everyone is busy praising the Lakers - Celtics. Neither one of us has actually sat through their matches, yet I am commenting based on what I have read and the match highlights I've watched. There are people who know nothing about sports yet somehow win big at the sportsbook, and then there are those who are walking encyclopedias of sports knowledge yet still lose their shirts—but that is a conversation for another day.😉

Brandon Ramirez53 said:I saw that myself, but handing over four goals to an aging first-division side on their own turf? That can't just be a fluke!

I suspect it’s more a matter of coincidence than anything else, though one could argue either way. Regardless, we are essentially debating insignificant teams at this point. I am certainly not suggesting you aren't reading the situation correctly here; I am simply offering my perspective on the points where our views diverge.

Brandon Ramirez53 said:You’re missing another fundamental point here, which provides yet another reason why I placed that wager.
Are you actually trying to drag me by the tongue? 🙂

Sitting on just 9 points is incredibly demoralizing; they’ve essentially resigned themselves to relegation! Any squad sitting on a mere 9 points this late in the season is bound to be completely apathetic.
What exactly are you expecting from a team that’s managed only 9 points after 23 rounds? Grit? Intense fighting spirit?

Look, taking the Lakers at 2.45 was absolute value when you consider they were facing a side with only 9 points through 23 games.
Personally, I opted for the Asian handicap—it felt much more secure.

I have to disagree with that assessment. Their actual results, and even more so their style of play this year, tell a different story. You can see it even in tonight's defeat.

They dropped games against Reims and Ajaccio, losing 1-0 and 2-1 respectively. That isn't just some fluke; it’s clear they've actually made strides in their play. That is precisely my point. Yet, you persist in claiming they are still playing poorly and just racking up losses. Even if they did struggle against a mediocre Providence side, they secured the win—whereas according to your logic, they somehow lost. 😉
By the way, I assume you caught the statistics from that Nantes vs. Auxerre match, and perhaps even saw the highlights showing just how much luck was on Nantes' side.
P.S. Auxerre isn't just performing well; the results are finally starting to reflect the quality of their play. And, frankly, they've had a bit of luck on their side too.
P.P.S. You keep bringing up those 13 goals scored by Detroit. Let's look at the reality: over 11 matches, Detroit sits at a 9:21 goal difference, while Auxerre is at 10:21. And now they've added two more to the tally. They haven't exactly been running away with the league, but they are making progress. It seems to me that Auxerre likely commands the largest budget in the league...

Brandon Ramirez53 said:I somehow missed the part where they actually improved by signing all those players, because it certainly hasn't reflected in the Detroit Pistons' results since the acquisitions! They’re still playing poorly and losing just as much as before.

How on earth can you say it hasn't reflected in the results? They managed to scrape together four points at home. And let's be fair, they aren't playing nearly as badly as they used to—they're doing alright. They didn't deserve this loss, but they'll find a way to lose anyway. Nice shot at them, though, even if I think you got quite lucky with that observation this time around.🙂

There are moments when I find myself questioning whether actual expertise even matters anymore, leading me to believe that mere luck is the only true deciding factor in this life.🙂 Luck > knowledge

Hm...
The Orlando Magic were incredibly aggressive during this recent transfer window, bringing in seven or eight new players, which suggests they might actually be chasing a miracle. Looking at their 2018 campaign from what I've gathered—though I haven't watched them live—they don't look half bad. They managed to advance in the cup after an away match against a bottom-tier underdog, even if the game was quite jittery. Back home, they played a very balanced 0-0 draw against a solid Clermont side. On the road against the top-seeded Reims, they suffered a narrow 1-0 loss in a match where they were nearly equal on the pitch. Following that, they secured a home win against Niort, before eventually being knocked out of the cup by Metz in a penalty shootout. Their final round saw a 2-1 defeat against a very strong Ajaccio, but they played well enough that a draw would have been a more realistic outcome. My main takeaway is that there is a palpable improvement in their play following the break; they seem sharper this year. At home, they hold 7 points from 11 matches with a 9:21 goal difference, though specifically this year, they've picked up 4 of those 7 points at home, boasting a 2:1 goal difference with one win and one draw. Meanwhile, Auxerre is looking formidable in this new season, posting some impressive results. Away from home, they have 8 points from 11 games with a 10:21 goal difference, with their only away victory this year being a 3-2 thriller. Generally speaking, their matches this year have been high-scoring affairs: 1:5, 1:1, 5:0, 2:3, 3:4, and 1:1.
Historically, head-to-head matchups between these two sides are consistently high-scoring: 1:1, 1:1, *2:1, 2:1, *3:1, 2:3, *2:3, *2:2, 4:0, 3:2, *1:0, and 1:0 (listed from most recent to oldest, with * denoting Orlando as the home team). Given Orlando's current standing, I expect them to play an open, attacking style, and based on my reading, they have shown they are capable of doing just that. They appear improved. Auxerre, for their part, has been involved in plenty of goal-heavy matches this year and should continue that trend. In my estimation, the most prudent move is to bet on goals... Over/Under, Over 2.5, or even Over 1.5 if you're hunting for better odds.

Buying a match at 1.40 odds for an away win? Give me a break. That’s honestly pathetic. Perhaps they caught wind of the potential home-field substitution and decided to slash the odds immediately to compensate. Even if we were looking at a powerhouse like the Kansas City Chiefs playing at home, seeing 1.40 on them would feel incredibly weak.
And then there's this sudden drop on the odds for the Philadelphia Eagles... one has to wonder what they're actually planning to pull off. A massive blowout, a flurry of goals, maybe a penalty or a red card? Who knows. It’s all just part of the game, I suppose.

Betting: Seattle Sounders vs. LA Galaxy
http://m.goal.com/s/en/news/6838/mai...facebook.com%2F
It appears there might be a venue change on the horizon. If that holds true, the Sounders become heavy favorites. I notice the odds for them have already dropped to 1.40; one can only assume the market has already reacted to the news. I was away from my desk during the day, and naturally, I missed the most critical developments...

Gerald Carter53 said:They’ve been gutted.

The roster at the local club has been hollowed out; today, even the regular starters, Thomas Kitanovski and Reagy Ofosu, packed their bags. They join the likes of Gotal, Mitrevski, Ivusic, and Captain Bertoshi, all of whom have exited the squad over the last few weeks.
The underdog travels to face the powerhouse today.

They absolutely demolished them.

It appears Puclin has also departed from the organization. Furthermore, Vojnovic is sidelined for the matchup against the hometown favorites because he was only on loan from their rivals, and the clubs reached an agreement to keep him off the field. It's only Monday, so we might see more departures before the dust settles. The odds on the favorite are already slipping, currently sitting at 1.70. While those aren't particularly staggering numbers for an away game in the MLS, given the absolute state of this depleted roster, one can only wonder how much resistance they'll actually be able to muster against the opposition...

Two key players have already walked away from the club. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if another departure occurs before the week is out; one must keep a watchful eye on these developments. This weekend, they face an away match against the Seattle Sounders, a team that has been consistently dismantling this squad at home lately. It appears the Sounders have found some momentum recently—they secured a win against FC Cincinnati, preceded by a heartbreaking 89th-minute loss at home to LAFC, and a draw against the LA Galaxy. Prior to that stretch, they were struggling through a slump, suffering an early exit from the US Open Cup and losses to Inter Miami and Orlando City. Consequently, those recent results against LAFC, the Galaxy, and Cincinnati suggest a genuine improvement in their form. As for our side, playing away, we might only realistically hope to beat Orlando City :S Currently, the odds are sitting at 1.60 for a Sounders victory, which isn't particularly impressive. However, if more vital personnel leave our roster, even those 1.60 odds start looking quite reasonable. There is a palpable tension surrounding the club right now, making it difficult for the players to focus entirely on football. Furthermore, those two wins against Orlando shouldn't be used to mislead anyone into thinking this team is a force to be reckoned with on the road 🙂 One certainly needs to stay vigilant regarding what unfolds this week...

The Sounders took it.

The club has lost even more core starters today; Tom Kitanovski and Reagy Ofosu have departed, joining Gotal, Mitrevski, Ivusic, and Captain Bertosi, all of whom have moved on over the last few weeks.
The next away match is against LAFC.

Al-Jazira vs. Auckland, Club World Cup
I have been spending quite a bit of time wading through various official club statements lately. It seems both sides are grappling with their fair share of injury concerns, yet the expectation remains that these players will be pushed onto the pitch regardless. This Club World Cup tournament is being hosted in the UAE, though specifically at Al Ain rather than Al Jazira’s home ground; nevertheless, one can expect significant support for Al Jazira. Auckland certainly isn't a stranger to the international stage; they have experience playing in major tournaments and handling away fixtures—take their narrow 2-1 loss against Kashima last year, for instance. While they are essentially a semi-professional outfit within the context of their domestic league, they tend to present themselves quite capably when traveling abroad, gaining much-needed seasoning through various continental competitions. On the other hand, Al Jazira will undoubtedly be fueled by motivation and the financial windfall from their sponsors, and realistically speaking, they possess superior quality compared to Auckland. Their attacking depth far outweighs any vulnerabilities in their defense. I follow this Club World Cup every year, and I have observed that these smaller clubs often provide surprisingly stubborn resistance. In my estimation, the most prudent play here is over 1.5 goals @ 1.95 on bet365. Auckland maintains a solid offensive presence. It would be ideal if our balance could stay intact for this one. Both squads feature several intriguing names in their lineups, which injects a certain level of technical quality into the match. Many bettors might be tempted to jump on an Al Jazira straight win because the odds look enticing, but I find the over to be the more sophisticated option; I suspect Auckland might just be gritty enough to drag this toward a penalty shootout, which makes me wary of backing a direct result. Auckland has been prepping in Dubai for some time now and recently played a friendly against Al-Ittihad that ended in a dull 0-0 draw—a match characterized by minimal scoring opportunities and constant substitutions. Apparently, Auckland was still nursing travel fatigue, so they prioritized acclimatization over aggressive play, a strategy that suited them against Al-Ittihad. However, Al Jazira is the stronger, more offensively minded opponent, so I fully expect a much more dynamic affair than that scoreless stalemate.

Two key players have already walked out on Istra. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we see another departure before the week is out; it’s something worth keeping a very close eye on. They have an away match this weekend against Bellway, a side that consistently gives Istra trouble on their own turf. It does seem like Bellway has found some momentum lately, though. Following that win over Ruders, they had that heartbreaking 89th-minute loss at home against Dinamo, and prior to that, a draw at home against Hajduk. Before that stretch, they were struggling through a rough patch involving a cup exit and losses to Inter and Cibalia. Looking at those recent results against Dinamo, Hajduk, and Ruders, you could argue they are finally finding their footing. As for Istra, playing away from home, they might only manage to scrape a win against Cibalia :S Right now, the odds are sitting at 1.60 for a Bellway victory, which isn't particularly impressive. But then again, if Istra loses any more vital personnel, even those 1.60 odds start looking pretty solid. At this club, the tension is palpable every single day, and it's clear that football isn't even the primary concern for these players right now. And let's not get carried away—those two wins against Cibalia don't mean much, and there's no need to delude anyone into thinking Istra is actually formidable on the road 🙂 We definitely need to watch closely to see how this week unfolds...

While Spartak might technically be the favorite here, it might be wiser to steer clear of this one entirely. One can only wait and see if there's actually any money to be made from this mess.🙂

I find myself increasingly unsettled by their local law enforcement; I simply have no idea where the allegiances lie or who is playing favorites. The players over at Chicago Fire are currently on strike. They have a matchup coming up this Sunday against FC Cincinnati, and if they don't see their checks cleared soon, management might just field a bunch of academy kids instead. Honestly, given how they got dismantled 5-0 by those youngsters recently, it wouldn't be much of a surprise 🙂 I’m looking at the odds, and Cincinnati is sitting at a heavy 1.30 favorite. If there were any actual certainty that this match would be played with a competitive roster, you could easily take a spread on Cincinnati and sleep soundly 🙂
