Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·

Can't you just wipe the hard drive while you're reinstalling Windows?

I meant setting the BIOS to boot from the DVD drive instead...
When you format Windows, you aren't actually erasing the old files off the hard drive; they stay there, just hidden, because the new Windows installation overwrites them. This means if that old version had viruses, even after formatting, those bugs might jump over to the new setup—especially if we're talking about some really nasty malware.

It’s definitely not a simple task if you aren't tech-savvy.

Fair enough, if you're totally lost... it probably makes sense to just hand it off $33, there's clearly a lot involved here... but still, why not give it a shot yourself? At least you might learn something along the way..

I was wondering if I could get some advice or help from you all.

How much would you be willing to pay to have an entire computer wiped and just have Windows 7 reinstalled?

Don't pay anyone anything... you can find Windows 7 on a torrent site and grab an activator there to get it running. You can wipe the whole drive yourself using a DBAN tool from your BIOS... because when you just swap operating systems, the old files stay on the hard drive and slow everything down. So, just wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows 7 from scratch. It's totally free.

I'm not sure if you figured it out yet, but I just grabbed a Windows activator... and it did all the work itself. Cheers!
