Heh, I tried being assertive in these arguments, but it’s clear it’s a lost cause. I’m backing out of this debate with you before I give you a piece of my mind—and trust me, I’d have to be downright rude to say what I’m actually thinking.

Thanks again for the info; I'll put it to good use.

Angela Bailey7 - I feel for you regarding your situation, and I get the frustration, but either you’re still missing the point or you’re just messing with me. I asked a very specific question—as direct as it gets—and I received concrete answers from several people, as you can see for yourself. I don't know what your deal is, but if I were to act like you, I'd say: "What are you complaining about? You're alive. There are people who have died because of medical malpractice or pure negligence. Who are they going to complain to? Be glad you're even breathing." Get it now? For every problem out there, there is a much bigger one, and who are we to trivialize anyone else's struggles? If you can't help me with my inquiry, please stop trolling the thread. Thanks.

I honestly don't know how their scheduling system works. I had no idea that was even an option. Since I haven't been to the doctor much over the last six months, I didn't even realize they stopped issuing paper prescriptions and switched everything to electronic. Come to think of it, I highly doubt people are actually cutting in line; everyone shows up and puts their insurance cards on the counter, and I've yet to see anyone walk into an office "out of turn."

Gary Cox2 - Yes, the system isn't great, but the system isn't to blame just because someone fails to show up to work on time. Well, okay, it *is* to blame, but only because it's far too lax. Sorry, but I find it unacceptable that in a country like ours, where hundreds of thousands are unemployed, someone is constantly abusing the patience of patients. And I don't understand how you people are fine with someone being perpetually late to a job that other people depend on—and potentially their health. I've shown up about ten times before opening hours hoping to be among the first ones in, and NOT ONCE did they show up when they were supposed to. And I'm not talking about a 5 or 10-minute delay. Also, the advice to "just find a new doctor" is, no offense, one of the stupidest and most common things I've ever heard. "If you ignore the problem, it'll go away," right? That's probably why we live the way we do.

Thanks for the advice; I might actually use some of it.

She can't claim she did nothing wrong. Her entire job is to provide diagnoses and specialist referrals. In fact, she almost screwed me over once when I asked a dermatologist for a referral for a colonoscopy (yeah, I know, dermatology and bowel exams aren't exactly related), and she actually tried to argue with me about it. Because I insisted, I eventually got the referral, which turned out to be a blessing because it led to a diagnosis of colon cancer. Fortunately, it was caught in the early stages, so surgery was all I needed—no extra chemo required. So, if we’re being objective, if I hadn't pushed back against her advice, things could have been a hell of a lot worse.

But I still don't get your narrow-minded logic where you think only people facing life-or-death situations have the right to complain without being mocked. Sure, there are worse problems than mine, but there are also worse problems than the ones you listed. So what? In any case, my opinion is that anyone receiving a paycheck funded by patients should show a shred of respect toward those very patients by simply doing their jobs correctly, even if it's just during business hours. Or do you think "patient" is a hobby people pick up when they have nothing better to do and decide to wander into medical facilities? If she doesn't want to do the job, she should quit and leave the spot for someone who actually gives a damn.

And honestly, your mentality still stuns me. I'm sorry, but if you truly believe that, then I think you're not entirely sound of mind. Mentally, I mean. And I'm not saying that as an insult. The only other explanation is that you're a GP yourself (maybe even the one in question, lol) and this behavior is second nature to you. Why would you even ask if she "massively messed up" my health?? Wouldn't it be enough that she just messed it up?? Does it have to be "massive" for you to care?? And yes, it becomes my problem when someone's nonchalant attitude toward a job they are paid for forces me to stay away from my own work longer than planned. I assume the Hippocratic Oath is a foreign concept to you. Goodnight.

@Angela Wright - Look, I hear what you're saying, but I'm just as convinced that isn't the case with my doctor. At least not in most instances, because her go-to excuse for being late is always "it was busy in here." And honestly, it seems highly unlikely that she’s the only physician in this entire Community Health Center who handles THAT many home visits. As for vacation time, she took at least three separate trips this summer—I counted about 5 or 6 weeks total. Thanks for the insight on the numbers, though.

@boldnomad45 - I'm guessing that doctor isn't based over in Brooklyn? 😁

@Angela Bailey7 - I don't get the attitude. I simply presented my issue and asked for some help from decent people. My apologies if my situation doesn't meet your high standards of importance. But listen, if only the biggest catastrophes in the world were allowed onto this forum without being belittled, there wouldn't be any problems to discuss. There would be no forum, just silence. That was incredibly uncollegial and rude of you. Truly. Sending you well wishes for a speedy recovery.

Greetings!

Is there actually an official body where I can file a complaint against a primary care physician that won't just end up in a black hole? I mean, a report that will actually trigger a real investigation? For years, I've had grievances regarding my GP, but since I didn't need to visit often, I chose to look the other way. Unfortunately, I've had to go in more frequently lately for referrals, and frankly, the constant waiting for her to even show up at her desk has become exhausting. Today, for instance, she was over an hour late—and sadly, that isn't even the worst part. She knows better. On top of that, her "breaks" aren't the thirty minutes mandated by regulation and clearly posted on the door; instead, the lady consistently extends them every single time. And don't even get me started on her private phone calls. For the record, this is about a doctor at the downtown Community Health Center. Anyone who visits that location probably knows exactly who I'm talking about.

Thank you.

Yeah, I’m paying cash. I actually found a cheaper little shop right here in my neighborhood, so that's probably where I'll head once I make up my mind. I don't have any patience for online stores. I'm old school—I want to walk in, grab my gear, and hand the money directly to the guy behind the counter. 😁

Look, I’m not strictly tied down by a three-liter limit, but since they're right here in my neighborhood, I really don't feel like driving any further just to deal with that. 😁

As for the budget, I’ve set a hard ceiling at around $220, but I refuse to throw money away on hardware that’s just going to sit there gathering dust.

Thanks to everyone for the input; you guys were a huge help. I'll have all my options sorted out by Easter, and then I'm pulling the trigger on the purchase. 🙂

I think I have two drives left, one is a WD 1600GB and the other is a WD 500GB. Look, it’s not about whether it costs an extra couple of bucks or if it’ll work with the latest Windows updates. What really gets under my skin is having to reinstall all that absolute garbage software again. Is there seriously zero chance to skip that whole headache? 😁 And my desktop is built exactly how I want it, so I’d be stuck redoing the entire setup too... honestly, it's because of stuff like this that I avoid touching my PC at all, lol

As for my burner, I'm definitely swapping it out since the current one isn't performing great. It reads fine, but the burning speed is pathetic, haha. Not that I care much though—it's plug&play and cheap enough.

One more thing: is this processor actually better than the one mentioned above? I haven't kept up with these naming conventions lately and the whole thing is just confusing... the prices are pretty much the same, but this second one has way lower GHz (1.3 compared to 3.7). And what is the deal with these different sockets like AM1 or FM2? There are just too many variables to deal with 😁 they really need to get their act together and just make something universal

Oh, I forgot to mention one more thing: I really want to keep my current "setup" intact. I’ve got Windows XP running on this machine and I’m completely used to it. Honestly, the thought of reinstalling Windows and hunting down every single program and application all over again sounds like a nightmare. Is that even doable?

Also, regarding the power supply—I just bought a new one a year ago after my old unit died on me. The only issue would be if this one is too weak...

Thanks for the quick replies.

My PC has been driving me absolutely insane lately because it’s just so painfully slow. It’s an old machine, about 10 years old now, running an Intel Ryzen 3 with only 2 GB of RAM, so I finally decided it was time for a refresh. My plan is to swap out the motherboard, the processor, and the RAM. I found these specific parts online, but I need to know if they actually work with my current setup—and more importantly, if these new components are even compatible with each other...

By the way, I noticed this processor comes with integrated graphics. Is that actually any good? I don't need this thing for anything heavy-duty. Just basic web browsing, YouTube, live streaming, and maybe the occasional round of Need for Speed 😁.

Also, all these different memory types are incredibly confusing... DDR1, 2, 3... what is the actual difference? And is 2 GB enough, or should I just bite the bullet and go with 4 GB?

Thanks.
