I suppose this Epson doesn't have such terrible reviews

The ink costs are practically peanuts

You could potentially save maybe 30 to $13, and if my experience is anything to go by, cheap printing just creates a constant demand for more 😁
Now, this actually doesn't look too bad... it's even cheap, which I guess is a plus :-) though it only mentions original black ink $60, but what about third-party $4.75??! Is it just me, or does something feel a little fishy here??!

Go laser, definitely. The Xerox 3320 is actually one of those rare high-end printers you can reliably find here in the States. You might stumble upon some Brother or OKI models every now and then, but their local distribution isn't exactly thriving, if you know what I mean. Honestly, most major brands tend to overlook smaller markets like ours because we aren't seen as a massive profit center, so we mostly get stuck with cheap all-in-ones while nobody really cares about moving a few heavy-duty units a year. It’s a bit of a sad story, really—just a somewhat underdeveloped market where big players don't feel like putting in the effort...
Now, this Xerox handles a monthly volume of about 80,000 pages. One large toner cartridge (rated for 10,000 pages) goes for roughly $333, which brings the cost down to about $0.03 per page. Personally, I think that's quite decent. If you go with third-party toners, it gets even cheaper, I suppose. This machine has plenty of features, it's solid, and it's built like a tank, so if it fits your budget, it’s probably your best bet.
If for some reason that doesn't work for you, I guess you could try looking at OKI or Brother models—maybe something like the newer Brother HL-L5100DN —though you'll likely have to call around just to see if they actually have any in stock...
P.S.
Regarding point 4.
The printer can just be a standalone unit
(though I'm certainly open to suggestions for an all-in-one with a scanner!)

You might find Brother or OKI models occasionally, but their local presence has been pretty much non-existent for years now. Honestly, other major brands tend to overlook us because we’re just such a small, uninteresting market; they mostly just send over cheap all-in-ones, while nobody really bothers with the effort of selling a few serious enterprise printers a year. I suppose that's just how things go in many places—a somewhat thin, technologically lagging market where it doesn't seem worth the investment for the big players...

Thanks for such an exhaustive response!
I'm looking for some help and solid recommendations for picking up a new printer!
Here are the criteria I’m trying to meet:
1. Budget range around $1,000— $833!
2. It needs to be Black & White (color is fine if it fits, but certainly isn't a requirement)
3. As high a page yield as possible using original toner
(If you could mention roughly how many B/W pages we're talking about)
(And please include a link to an American retailer if possible)
Ideally, let me know the prices for original toners and where you usually grab them—specifically for
the particular printer you might suggest!!!
4. A standalone printer is perfectly fine, though I suppose I am open to suggestions for an All-in-One with a scanner!
5. Paper size: strictly A4/Letter format only!
6. In your opinion, should I go with laser or inkjet?!
P.S. Please throw as many links, suggestions, and personal experiences my way as possible! Thanks!
Thanks in advance for all your answers!
