Just open a checking account at any bank—honestly, even JPMorgan Chase works fine—and you can just wire the cash straight to your relative's account via online banking (or just walk into a branch with a deposit slip if you're old school). All you need is their routing and account number... Sending cash in an envelope is basically asking for trouble; it’s easily the riskiest way to try and surprise someone.
