update !!!!
So, I finally went through with the ultrasound for my neck arteries and carotids. Results came back fine—the left one is a bit narrower than the right, but nothing out of the ordinary.
The only thing left on my list is getting the hearing tests done.
In the meantime, I decided to just go ahead and start taking some Ginkgo Biloba and a Vitamin B Complex in capsule form.
I've been on them for two weeks now, and honestly, I feel a bit better. Is it because of the supplements, the weather, or just because I'm finally relaxing? Who knows! Will it last? God only knows!
Anyway, just figured I'd share the info for anyone else wondering!

Brain zaps?
Man, I have no clue. I've read about them, but besides the name, I can't really see how they relate to what I'm feeling. And I definitely haven't been on any meds or tapering off anything lately.
update !!!!
Just got back from the ENT, and yeah, predictably, everything looks fine visually—eardrum is clear, no inflammation inside or out.
They want me to finish the rest of the tests (an audiology workup and a CT scan of the neck arteries and carotids). Maybe something pops up there, but if not, they'll probably just tell me to "deal with it."
I asked the doctor about Vertigo, but he said there's no reason for him to prescribe it yet. He thinks maybe another specialist will write the script after the hearing tests.
I'm planning to get those remaining tests done next month.
For three days straight, I actually felt pretty good, barely any symptoms at all. Then today, everything went right back to hell.
- Honestly, seeing a clean MRI was such a huge relief. I don't have to worry about tumors or weird masses or anything crazy like that. It’s made my daily life way less stressful.
- Yeah, I probably didn't explain it great since this whole thing is still pretty new to me.
Let me try again:
* It isn't just some quick blackout or passing out like you suggested, Nicholas Davis4. It's more like this intense dizziness you described. It feels like someone just gives me a sudden shove from the side. I don't actually fall over, though—I'm either fighting to stay upright or it's just how it works, I haven't figured that part out yet. It doesn't last long, there's no pattern, and I have zero clue what triggers it. Today has actually been one of those rare days where it barely happened at all.
Along with the dizziness, it feels like someone is momentarily squeezing my brain through my temples... I don't even know how else to put it.
* At first, it was just these sudden "drops," like a quick tugging sensation, but that turned into this constant dizziness over time. The dropping feeling is gone now. My biggest fear is that this becomes a 24/7 thing because then I'm totally screwed and can't function. Right now, it mostly happens when I'm walking. I haven't really linked it to turning my head quickly. When I'm driving or sitting at my desk at work, I'm fine 90% of the time.
* As for the numbness in my arm, I get that it's super common. I just wanted to mention it in case anyone else deals with that symptom. I'm thinking it might be a pinched nerve near my elbow or something. I hit the gym pretty hard, so maybe I messed something up lifting weights. Or maybe it's just from sitting at my computer all day.
* Tinnitus and that full feeling. My ears feel stuffed up, like they're clogged. Both ears have this high-pitched ringing, kind of like the buzz you hear from an old TV. Sometimes the right ear gets way louder for a few seconds. It's bearable for now, but if it gets any worse, I'm going to lose it. Feels like the left ear is actually getting better lately.
I actually have an ENT appointment today, so I'm curious to see what they say. Thanks for the input, Nicholas Davis4.
P.S. My neck and spine are definitely feeling super tense.
I’m trying to just get used to this tinnitus thing. Most of the time I can tune it out if there's enough background noise going on, but man. I'm guessing eventually you just stop noticing it.
But the dizziness? That's the part that actually scares the hell out of me. I start spiraling, thinking, "What if this gets worse?" Like, what if I can't even drive my truck anymore, or what if I lose my hearing entirely?"
Look, I know people have much bigger problems, but this is my life right now. It’s just incredibly frustrating...

UPDATE!
- I'm gonna keep posting updates here as long as I'm actually doing something about this. I’ve seen way too many threads where people just go ghost or barely give any details, so hopefully this helps someone out there.
- So, just finished seeing my neurologist with my MRI results and thyroid hormone levels. Based on the reports, the doc says everything looks fine. Apparently, that hypoplastic artery isn't an issue because it's just something you're born with—most people have them. Next step is getting checked out by an ENT.
I've got an appointment with an audiologist in February, but I'm heading to a private specialist for an ENT exam later this week. In the meantime, honestly? That ringing in my right ear feels like it's gotten even worse.
P.S. A bunch of you guys have mentioned having similar issues before, but absolutely nobody ever says if they actually fixed it or how they did it! I'd love to hear some actual info for once!
UPDATE!
Has anyone dealt with a narrowed left vertebral artery before?
The report says "hypoplastic left VA V4 segment," but then it also claims my "Circle of Willis and its main branches look totally normal without any major narrowing or aneurysms."
I’m seeing my doctor on Tuesday to make sense of this mess, and I'll probably be getting a carotid and VA scan next week. Just wondering if anyone else has been through this.
Did the doctor actually confirm it's coming from the neck, and what kind of treatment are we looking at?
Did the doctor actually confirm it’s coming from your neck, and what kind of treatment are they putting you on?
UPDATE!
- Had my blood drawn on Monday to check my thyroid levels—TSH, 3 and 4. They’re all sitting right at the top end of the scale, but technically still "normal."
- Went ahead and paid out of pocket for a brain MRI and an angiogram this past Friday. It cost me $667, but everything came back clean.
Honestly, I don't regret spending the cash if it means actually being healthy and finally getting some sleep. I've dealt with migraines since I was a teenager, and doctors have been suggesting an MRI for years that I just never bothered to get. Even though my migraines only hit once or twice a year, what I'm dealing with right now is on a whole different level.
I feel like things have shifted slightly for the better, honestly. Those balance "episodes" aren't happening nearly as often, but I totally forgot to mention that I've had constant ringing in my ears for three weeks straight now.
The ringing isn't super loud—I mostly don't even notice it when I'm out and about—but as soon as it gets quiet, there it is.
We'll see if they suggest more testing.
Quick update, just got back from seeing my neurologist. After chatting with the doctor and going through those coordination and balance tests, turns out I don't have any issues there.
The doc says it’s nothing to panic about yet—she said if the dizziness lasted for 24 hours straight or if I was dealing with massive headaches, then we'd be talking.
She wants me to get an MRI and check my thyroid levels. I'm getting the bloodwork done this Monday, and I scheduled a private MRI for Friday, so we'll see what comes up.
I'm still low-key freaking out that it might be something serious.
Hey,
I’ve been scrolling through some old posts here about balance issues, but everything is ancient and dead, plus I can't find anything that actually matches what I'm going through.
A few months back, it would happen once in a blue moon—just this split second where my head feels like it's "dropping." Like that dizzy feeling when you bolt out of bed too fast. It only lasted a second and happened maybe once or twice a month. Honestly, I didn't think much of it. Just figured it was work stress or maybe I was low on vitamins or something.
But about a week ago, it went totally nuts. Now it's happening like 5 or 6 times every single day.
I finally went to see my doctor and told him everything. He also caught a sore throat and a slight fever (I was actually shivering with chills that day).
Bloodwork and urine tests came back totally fine. He put me on an antibiotic (Augmentin), and I'm halfway through the prescription now, but nothing has changed. I feel physically okay otherwise, then suddenly my vision just "glitches" for one second and it's gone. It's starting to mess with my head, too—I'm pretty sure I had a massive panic attack with chest pains and shortness of breath. Checked my blood pressure, though; it was fine.
Also, weirdly enough, if I'm lying down with my arms bent at less than 90 degrees, my pinky and ring finger go numb. Maybe that's relevant, maybe not.
The doctor keeps saying it's just some kind of infection, but since the antibiotics aren't doing squat, I have to head back to his office.
Anyone else dealt with this crap?
My bad if I posted this in the wrong subforum.
Can someone point me in the right direction or just drop some info here? What’s the deal with the Motor Vehicle Act regarding riding an unregistered bike on the roads in Poland?
Look, I want to pick up a dirt bike—something 125cc max. Just want to ride through the woods and local trails near my place while the weather is actually decent.
I’ve had my driver's license since 2005, but honestly, that doesn't matter because I have zero intention of registering the bike or throwing money away on paperwork. I won't be hitting the main highways. But what happens if the cops catch me out in the middle of nowhere? Being in a rural border area, you never know when a patrol might roll up.
Am I screwed if they pull me over? Even if I'm not technically "on the road," since the bike isn't registered and the engine size is way higher than what my license allows?
dustybadger902 said:You didn't even say which motherboard you're using.
That 8GB stick is probably fine, but since you're running an old LGA 1156 socket, your board likely tops out at 4GB per slot—maybe 16GB total if you've got four slots. Go check the manufacturer's site to see if there's a BIOS update or if it can even handle that module (probably not).
Problem solved. aka47 was right. I totally missed checking if the board could actually take a single 8GB module before I bought it. Just swapped it out for 2x4GB sticks. Thanks for the help!
Steven Hayes26 said:So, if I’m getting this right, you’ve got two different types of RAM on the motherboard. From what I remember, that can cause headaches on certain boards—doesn't mean yours is one of them, though. It's always better to stick to the same type. Just try popping one type of RAM in there by itself and let me know if it still acts up. If it does, we'll figure out the next step.
And yeah, check the motherboard manual. There might be some useful info in there about memory compatibility.
First off, I already tried resetting the CMOS. Total waste of time, nothing changed. It’s still doing the exact same thing. It even blue-screened on me last night while I was just watching a movie. Finished the movie, hit ESC, and boom... Blue Screen of Death. Absolute joke.
Kate Martin3, the first thing I tried was using just that 8GB stick because I figured mixing them would be a mess, but even with just that one, it kept crashing. I didn't even touch the second stick until I realized the first one wouldn't run at 1600MHz, so I thought I'd give it a shot and use both.
Now I'm stuck with basically one option: test it with my old 4GB 1333MHz stick just to prove once and for all that this new RAM is the culprit. Then I'll have to deal with the fallout... somehow.
Thanks for the help. If anyone else has any bright ideas, throw 'em my way...
Hey guys,
Of course I've got a problem.
A week ago, my old GPU bit the dust, so I picked up a GT 440 with 2GB DDR3. Grabbed an extra 8 GB of DDR3 RAM at 1600 MHz
too.
Here’s the deal. Every time I boot up, it hits the "Starting Windows" screen and just freezes. Then the whole thing resets and starts the loop all over again. Sometimes, right before it crashes, I get hit with a Blue Screen that says "dumping physical Memory..."
I figured out a weird workaround—if I jump into the BIOS first, poke around for a second, and then exit without changing anything, Windows actually boots fine.
I installed Windows 7 64-bit when I put the new sticks in. Now I'm sitting at 12 GB total. One stick is 4 GB but runs at 1333MHz.
My motherboard is an old LGA 1156 model and doesn't support 1600MHz, so both sticks are running at 1333.
Any idea how to fix this mess? I haven't touched any voltage or latency settings in the BIOS. Honestly, I have no clue what my power supply wattage even is, so maybe that's part of it...
P.S. I had the exact same headache when I tested the system with just the new RAM (so 8GB without that 4GB stick)

Whether it's about the prototype or any other random questions, they're the ones to ask. Just head over to: http://igranje.org/ or check out the forum here: http://igranje.org/forum/index.php
thanks a ton!
Hey everyone!
Me again. Not sure if I'm in the right spot—if I'm wrong, mods please just move this, my bad.
So, I cooked up this social game for teens and built a prototype that actually killed it. Now I’m working on a more polished version to show what it can really do.
I need to know how to protect my idea. Like, how do I handle copyrights and what's the whole process from a rough prototype to pitching it to the big players... you know, companies like Electronic Arts and stuff.
Thanks for the help!
Elizabeth Cox83 said:Check-out is usually by 10 or 11 AM, unless it's peak season, then maybe noon. There's no set rule for everyone; the hotel just puts it in their own house rules.
Got it, thanks a ton.
Not sure if this is the right spot for this, so my bad to the mods if it isn't...
Quick question: when you book a room at a place like a Marriott or a Hilton with breakfast included, what’s the actual cutoff time for having that room ready by tomorrow morning? Is there some universal rule, or does every single hotel just do their own thing?
