I couldn't quite tell just by looking at the photos, but from the profile view, it seems like it’s sitting totally flat—you know, I don't mean "flat" in a way that dips inward before sloping upward, if that makes any sense. 🤷 I know that was a terrible way to describe it, but I think my mental image is right, and it looks pretty level from the side, don't you think?
Thanks, 😍
It is flat—like I mentioned before, I definitely didn't want that "slide" look. But honestly, right now it looks almost unnaturally straight because of the swelling; it just kind of goes straight out from my forehead due to the inflammation, if you catch my drift. 😁
Megan Moore76 said:Has anyone been following the news about who’s hitting The Oscars this Sunday? I am honestly so curious to see what Drake’s nose is going to look like after everything. I heard Dr. Phil was performing the surgery using the open technique, probably because he needs to adjust the muscle so she doesn't end up with that awkward gum line showing through.
Sophia Hill22, if you wouldn't mind sharing that photo, I would absolutely love to see it too! Thanks so much. 😉
To be honest, that specific surgical technique actually makes me a little nervous—I've read that surgeons prefer it because it gives them a much clearer view of everything compared to the closed method, but it feels like the recovery might take way longer, and you're stuck with that visible incision right under your nose for a while.
Messing around with the muscles above the nose sounds pretty sketchy to me as well; I gathered that was the approach Smith is taking based on some of the posts floating around. Personally, I really want my nose to have some natural movement when I talk, rather than looking like it's just been bolted onto my face. 🤷
mistyeagle4 said:Personally, I wouldn’t mind having a prominent nose; honestly, it might actually suit my face better, since that was how I looked until I was halfway through puberty. Plus, when you go for those standardized procedures, they tend to give everyone the exact same look—at least you know what kind of result you're going to get. 😁.
I’m looking at Blankin's nose right now and I can't quite figure out what those two little bumps on the tip are all about. They weren't there immediately after her surgery (and for what it's worth, I think she has a lovely nose), but I've noticed similar things on a few other women who people mentioned had undergone rhinoplasty too... I have no clue if it's just the way their noses are shaped or if it's something related to the surgeon's technique... 🤷 I suppose if I had the rest of Blankin's body and could jump around as energetically as she does, I wouldn't be worrying about this nearly as much... 😁
Ugh, I just noticed those bumps 😲 they look terrible to me, almost like two separate nasal tips, and her nasal bridge looks a bit overdone too
To all the girls on the forum who were asking me for a photo—I don't have a side profile shot handy, and frankly, I really didn't feel like taking a selfie and uploading it right now—my profile looks totally "Greek" at the moment because of all the swelling 😁
Regarding those girls—I really think it’s just rumor mill talk. I haven't heard a single word to support that from the surgeon who actually performed my procedure; personally, I always take anything coming from the competition with a massive grain of salt.
But hey, if there is any truth to it, I doubt he’ll ever just volunteer that information without being cornered by a direct question—his reputation has been a household name here for at least 15 years now. Still, the bottom line is that once you drift off to sleep in the operating room, you're completely out of the driver's seat, right?
To be honest, his work never really caught my eye because his rhinoplasty styles feel so cookie-cutter and mass-produced. I mean, I saw what happened with Blanka Vlašić—that nose just looked totally out of place on her face, and it was pretty jarring to see.
Ashley Gomez said:I’d really love it if anyone who's willing could please share some photos of their new noses!
I haven't actually made up my mind about which surgeon to go with yet, but since I'm planning on having the surgery in about eight months, I figure I have plenty of time to schedule some consultations if that's what's required... A colleague of mine actually managed to book her entire procedure just over the phone without even needing an in-person consultation, 🤷
Honestly, sorry, but that sounds completely unprofessional to me!
Who was she seeing?
Every single doctor I've seen during consultations has done a full physical exam—checking everything from the outside to feeling the structure inside—and I wouldn't trust someone who thinks they can just wing it blindly, especially not with a face like mine.
I paid for my consultations $83 at a specialist's office near me, though I'm not sure how other people handle it.
I honestly thought I’d already shared all the before and after photos with everyone who was interested, but if I missed anyone, please just reach out and let me know!
druidess - maybe try reading through the most recent posts a bit more closely next time 😉
I can finally smell things again! Oh my gosh, it feels amazing
And I just washed my hair too, which was such a relief 😍
Dana Wood26—Bastaic is honestly doing such an incredible job; it’s like he’s on a personal mission to fix everyone's sense of smell 🙂 and he’s definitely been keeping busy with a massive caseload lately 🙂
I’ll make sure to send you some photos once I finally crash
P.S. I heard a little rumor that Glumicic doesn't actually perform half of those surgeries himself. Apparently, he acts more like the manager and the face of the clinic while hiring out the actual surgical work to other specialists
Oh, and word on the street is that he might not even be an ENT specialist? Now, I’m just repeating what I’ve heard—it could all just be gossip—but maybe if you end up going there, you could ask if he’s the one actually operating 😉
As for Tony Stark, I’ve heard nothing but great things about him, though again, I haven't heard it directly from anyone who's been through it 🤷
Phew, I think I’m finally starting to settle down a little bit 🙂. To be honest, I was actually terrified for a moment that the damage might be permanent, especially since the surgery felt so incredibly long and intense. It really took it out of me. Right now, everything just feels... muted. I can't even catch a whiff of my favorite perfume when I spray it on, and things like garlic or cinnamon—nothing at all. Since I’m someone who genuinely lives for good food and loves being surrounded by nice scents, it’s been such a strange, frustrating void to deal with 😢 .
p.s. Even though I dealt with that deviation, I actually had a really sharp sense of smell before this . stormyharbor2—how long did it take for things to clear up for you? About two months, right?
wearyotter112 — I just had my surgery with Dr. Bastaic (huge thanks to him!!!) — I’m going to send some photos to everyone who’s gearing up for their own procedure, and also to dear Swift and rustygardener172 who reached out to me; honestly, those messages meant the world to me when I was sitting there overthinking everything, because I know exactly how much that kind of encouragement helps. 🙂
Right now, I still have the medical tape on and things are pretty swollen, so once the swelling goes down, I’ll post some actual shots since this doesn't really show the final result yet—but I have to say, despite all this puffiness, my nose looks totally cute! It doesn't look "done" or unnatural, the nostrils aren't overly visible, it hasn't turned into a slide shape, and it doesn't look like a tiny, cookie-cutter nose either; it's just more streamlined and refined, and honestly, it's gorgeous. 😍
p.s. I've got quite a bit of swelling—the lady at the grocery store actually asked me today if I'd been in a car accident!
Carol Diaz31 — Who are you planning to see?
mistyeagle4 — This is the first I'm hearing about that—is it considered a permanent side effect? And is it strictly tied to having a closed rhinoplasty?
My skin feels a little rough and puffy right now, but I’ve barely been able to wash my face for the last week, so I'm really hoping this is just a temporary thing.
I honestly couldn't be happier—I was actually on the verge of tears when I finally saw myself in the mirror 🙂 It’s still a little bit swollen, but even with the swelling, it looks so incredibly smooth and natural 😍
Kate Taylor59 said:Yesterday, my boyfriend and I were watching this segment on the Red Carpet about rhinoplasty, and they actually showed parts of the surgery itself. Oh my goodness, I almost fainted right then and there... I had to turn it off immediately because it was just too much to handle...😲 and honestly, seeing that really got me questioning whether I’m actually mentally prepared to go through the whole procedure myself...
I think what they were showing on the Red Carpet was an open rhinoplasty—those are definitely way more intense and scary. I had mine done using a closed technique, which is much less daunting than what you saw.😁
wearyotter112 said:I started getting my sense of smell back around day 10 after my surgery... it’s such a strange sensation at first... but don't worry, it'll come back to you before you know it.
Thank you so much for the reassurance, because I was starting to panic a little bit. It’s genuinely unsettling when you can't catch even the strongest scents—I was cooking earlier today and couldn't even smell the garlic hitting the oil when I tossed it in.😲
Hey everyone—when did you all finally start getting your sense of smell back?? I have to admit, I’m already starting to miss those scents so much.
For me, today marks day six. My left nostril is completely blocked off constantly, while the right one comes and goes, though it’s dealing with quite a bit of congestion that occasionally turns bloody. The swelling at the bridge of my nose has gone down a decent amount, but I’m still looking pretty colorful in that area.
Elizabeth Baker50 said:Honestly, having the mold removed doesn't hurt at all; everything that feels "painful" is really just a matter of your own mindset. I mean, there were a few months where I looked like a total wreck—or if I’m being completely honest, more like a heavyweight boxer than a human being, hahah... but looking back, every single bit of it was absolutely worth it! Wishing you nothing but the best with your recovery! 😉
So, he's a boxer now, huh? 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks so much, Elizabeth Baker50! 😁 You really were there for me when I was stressing out about the mold situation. 😘
P.S. Did you ever actually ask me about those glasses? I was just wondering—how long did it take before you finally started wearing them again?
So, I finally got my packing removed today and I can actually breathe again—honestly, I feel like I’m breathing like a dragon right now! 😁 I’m feeling so much better already 🙂 though I was feeling pretty woozy and out of it yesterday
The doctors warned me that my nose is going to stay congested for the next couple of weeks because of all the mucus and scabbing, so they gave me some nasal drops to use at night.
Taking the packing out was a little awkward, if I'm being honest, but it wasn't exactly terrifying. However, I just read some stories about people who found removing their molds incredibly painful, and since mine comes out this Monday, I’m feeling a little bit anxious about it.
My nose is definitely swollen, and I look a bit like a little piglet—though from what I can tell, most of that isn't even from the mold itself. It seems totally normal, though, because the swelling on the tip of my nose is so intense that it feels like it's pulling my whole nose upward.
Like rustygardener172 said, honestly, the best thing you can do is just stay away from the mirror entirely 🤣
casualcanyon14 said:Is there any way to find out how much you actually paid, and do you have to settle the whole bill at once?! thanks
It was about $2,000—you can split it into two payments, one before the procedure and the rest on the day of surgery, and you can definitely negotiate for an American rate.
p.s. I'm not entirely certain if his prices are set in stone, though.
Kate Taylor59—he doesn't really show off a portfolio of photos, but I saw some shots from a guy on this forum, and it seems clear he really advocates for a natural look, which is honestly exactly what I'm looking for.
stormyharbor2 said:It seems like rustygardener172 and I are in the minority when it comes to taste, I guess...🤷
Well, I’m definitely part of the group that prefers perfectly normal, well-proportioned noses!
So, here is my little update following yesterday’s surgery—I went with Bastaic, and honestly, I couldn't have made a better choice. The doctor and his entire five-person team were absolutely phenomenal. I actually stayed the night at the clinic so they could monitor me, and Setra was looking after me so attentively; my mom even came by this morning to pick me up.
To keep everyone in the loop without having to reply to everyone's private messages individually—the doctor mentioned that he hasn't encountered a nose quite as complex as mine in his entire 35-year career, both from an anatomical standpoint and functionally. According to him, the previous surgeon really messed things up; he basically "removed what should have been left alone and left behind what needed to be taken out."😁 He told me that he has managed to fix everything now, though it turned out to be much more challenging than he initially expected.
P.S. I didn't experience any nausea at all—both the anesthesia and the anesthesiologist deserve huge praise. I haven't even had to take a single painkiller yet. 😍
I am just so happy, and I truly feel like there was some kind of higher power guiding me toward choosing this surgeon.🙂 I highly recommend him, though I suspect Bastaic certainly doesn't need the extra advertisement!
stormyharbor2 said:Where on earth did you get that idea? Honestly, it feels more like as you age, everything just kind of loses its shape—you start looking a bit more haggard, and things like your nose actually seem to protrude more or look larger than they used to.
I just finished my consultation with Dr. Bastaic, and honestly, he really inspires confidence in me, so I’m leaning heavily toward choosing him—I think I’ll sleep on the decision first, but I'm about 90%
sure about it. It felt so reassuring when he told me there's absolutely no way I'd need a revision surgery after this procedure, because he understands completely that this is my second attempt and we have to get it right this time.
He clearly takes my entire facial structure into account, ensuring I won't end up with some unnatural, upturned, or "slide" looking nose. I actually brought along a few celebrity photos for reference, though I ended up not even pulling them out since we both realized they weren't necessary.
I'm still feeling a little nervous, I won't lie, but I'm feeling surprisingly optimistic. 🙂
