Excel help needed: in IT Support ·
I’ve put together a school year calendar in Excel, and I need a specific date in a given month to display as the letter "P" (for holiday), while keeping all other dates exactly as they are. For instance, if October 8th is a holiday, I want it to show up as "P" when entered, but leave everything else untouched.
I'm trying to use an IF function, but how do I structure the formula so that if the condition isn't met, it doesn't change anything?

Basically, you need to list the students with failing grades per subject in Tab2.

Put the raw data in one sheet and show us what the final result should look like in another. A few notes would be helpful, too.

It'll be much easier for someone to jump in and help you out that way.

Okay, I'll try to upload an Excel Text Box to this link.

I need some help with school statistics. Basically, I have a table with students listed vertically and subjects horizontally containing their grades. I need to create a second table that lists each subject alongside the number of failing grades, while also identifying which specific students failed each subject.

Please start by reading through the forum rules and usage guidelines. Also, please refrain from posting any email addresses, full names, phone numbers, or other personal info in future posts.

=IF(COUNTIF(A1:A5,1)>0,1,AVERAGE(A1:A5))

If A1:A5 is your range of grades, just change 🙂

Thanks, brightcyclist2, I managed to get that working! But now I need to take a final grade with two decimals and format it as a whole number so I can get a final score of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. I'm doing this via cell formatting. However, when I try to run statistics on those numbers—like counting how many students passed with a 2, 3, 4, or 5 versus failing (1)—it won't work. It seems like COUNTIF ignores cells that have been visually formatted. What should I do???
I need some help processing statistical data (school grades). I've put together a spreadsheet listing students and their subjects.

The subjects are split into general coursework (blue) and science tracks (brown), so I have two different general averages, and their arithmetic mean gives the final grade (gray and green). This works fine if all grades are positive, but if any grade is negative, then that specific section (general or science) needs to be marked as 1, which means the final grade also needs to be negative.
What formula should I use??
