I have this old Asus laptop—it’s probably about three or four years old now—and I recently went through the process of performing a clean install of Windows 7 on it. Since then, I've run into a bit of a snag regarding the display settings; I simply cannot get the screen resolution to behave properly. It only presents me with two meager options—1024x... and 800x...
On both of those settings, the image looks completely distorted—stretched out and squashed at the same time, which is quite frustrating. Is there any way to resolve this issue?

There is this "Backup" button physically located on my hard drive, but whenever I give it a click, absolutely nothing happens—it’s just dead air. I am assuming there is some sort of proprietary software required to actually trigger the process? I can't help but wonder how the mechanism would even function if I did have the right software installed in the first place; does it just initiate a direct clone, or is it more of a managed sync?

I’m in the market for an external hard drive—currently browsing through Best Buy and similar retailers—but I’m feeling a bit lost regarding the pricing logic here. It seems completely arbitrary; for instance, I've noticed some 320GB drives are priced identically to those with 500GB or even 1TB capacities... It’s a bit baffling, really. If anyone could shed some light on the actual distinctions between these two specific options—which happen to be the cheapest 1TB models I can find—I would truly appreciate it.
