Yeah, I know—I’ll reach out when the time actually comes. I just wanted to get a feel for what needs changing and what doesn't—just checking things out. Thanks anyway 🙂
I'm planning to overhaul my PC by this summer—basically prepping it to actually run The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim—so I could use some advice on what needs to go if I want to get any real performance out of this thing. Here’s the current mess:
- Intel Core i3-2100, LGA 1155, BOX, 1.5MB cache
- Asrock M3N78D, s.LGA 1155 - NVIDIA nForce 720D, ATX, Solid Capacitor
- 2 x DDR3 2048MB ( 2GB ) Kingmax, 1333MHz, CL9, FLFE85F-B8EE9
- HDD SAMSUNG 500GB 7200rpm 16MB cache Serial ATA II-300, F3
- XFX Core Edition 80+ 450W PSU - EasyRail technology
- Pioneer Lite-On DVD Writer, DVD±RW, 24x DVD±R ,8x DL , 40x CD-R
- Thermaltake V4 Black Edition, VM30001W2Z, Mid-Tower, 4.5 kg
- 3 x SCYTHE Slip Stream 120mm 1200 rpm, SY1225SL12M, 24.00dBA
- Sapphire HD 6770, 1GB DDR5 128 bits, Dual-Link DVI+HDMI+D-Sub
- Dell UltraSharp Monitor
Do I need to swap the motherboard or the power supply too, or can I just stick to the usual—CPU, GPU, and RAM? My monitor is 20", 1680x1050.
Never mind, I actually found 🙂
I fired up San Andreas and let the rig run for about 15 minutes while I played—no issues at all. Temps peaked at 66°C and dipped to 53°C—I just leave the fan pinned at 100%, so yeah, it's pretty loud 😁
The whole profile thing is actually a lifesaver. Now I can set it to overclock when I'm gaming and just stick to defaults while I'm surfing the web. Huge thanks to Benjamin King2—I'll give you an update if any 👍
pop up.
I don't even know what counts as idle vs. load anymore—anyway, I'm hitting maybe 68 degrees max while gaming, and it sits around 53-54 when I'm just chilling
What kind of temps am I looking at after I finish the OC?
So, I was messing around in the Intel Graphics Control Panel and saw "Enable AMD" was already checked. Then I fired up MSI Afterburner, cranked the fan speed to 100% based on those numbers from the link you posted (945/1374), and hit "test custom clocks" in the control center. My screen went totally haywire—just flashing gray, green, and red with that AMD logo sitting in the corner. About 20 seconds later, it snapped back and said the test failed. So... what now? Did that actually work, or am I just wasting my time? And do I need to keep that fan speed pinned at 100% in Afterburner?
I've got a few questions since I've never messed around with overclocking before.
Can I actually overclock the graphics card with this setup? Is it even worth the hassle—like, will I actually see better FPS in games? And how does one even go about doing it 😁? Also, what kind of headaches should I expect? If there's any kind soul out there willing to help me out, I'd really appreciate it 🙂

I know exactly what kind of garbage that fertilizer was 😎
But honestly, I just want to know what the vibe was like when they played—was the crowd huge? And did they end up playing their last show there?
Wait, did that festival actually happen? My brother skipped out because of the rain—so now I’m stuck wondering what went down in the end.
