The following formula should work: =COUNTIF(C9:AG9,"Go")*8. This formula counts every instance of the word "Go" and multiplies that count by 8.

Understood. Thank you for the prompt response. I will proceed using that method.
To clarify my title: I am currently working as a scheduler. 🙂 It concerns the so-called 12/24 to 12/48 shift rotation.
Finally, I add the summation formula to calculate the total hours. Everything is functioning correctly.
If you want to enter the word "Go" and have Excel recognize it as the value 8 so it can be used in hourly calculations, there is a way to handle that. You should look into using a custom lookup table or a specific formula to convert those text entries into numerical values.
