Try creating a completely blank database and then copy your objects over from an uncompacted version. See if they behave normally or allow editing once they're moved.

Unfortunately, neither importing nor copying is working at all.😕

If not, try running a decompile. Hit Start -> Run -> msaccess.exe "drive\path\file name.mdb" /decompile

Was the database running fine before you ran the Compact process? Don't you have a backup copy? 🙂

I did exactly what you suggested, but nothing changed.
It ran, the database opened, and I can see the tables, but the issue is still there.
The database was running perfectly fine until everything just went south. I restored from a backup, but of course, it’s the usual story—it only goes back three days, so now I’m stuck manually patching the data gap.
The permissions were standard, too; nothing unusual regarding specific user groups.
I need urgent help here.
I was running a Compact and Repair on an old Microsoft Access database I've been working on. Everything seemed fine initially—I could open the file and see all my tables—but then everything went sideways. For some reason, I’ve completely lost my Admins permissions. Now, whenever I try to access it, I get this error: "Could not read definitions; no read definitions permission for table or query 'Pero'."
I tried going to Tools > Security > User and Group Permissions > Change Owner, and while it shows the Admin option, it won't let me actually assign it.
I've already wasted time searching Google and trying every standard fix out there, but nothing is working.
I really need a solution quickly because I have a major reconstruction project on my plate right now.
🙂

Thanks.
