Nicholas King said:What does "negative time" even mean, anyway? Setting aside all that Excel nonsense for a second—where in the real world would you actually use "minus two hours"? Like, what does that even look like in real life?

Look, you can just toss in =ABS(A1-A2) to grab the difference, then deal with whether it’s positive or negative using an IF statement later. Simple enough.

So, here's the deal. I've got 184 hours set as my standard full-time workload for January. If someone clocks in at 181 hours, they’re technically 4 hours short. I was thinking—is there a way to make Excel actually show that deficit as -4:00 in a cell? I need to be able to run more math on those negative numbers without everything breaking.
Alright, so I’m running into this headache in Excel with some work hours. I've got one cell sitting at 184:00:00 and another at 181:15:00, and when I try to subtract them—you know, doing 181:15:00 minus 184:00:00—the cell just spits out those annoying ########## instead of showing me a negative time value. It's driving me nuts. How do I actually get this calculation to work? I see a bunch of people here who look like they basically helped build Excel from the ground up, so I’m banking on you guys having a fix for my little struggle here.
