Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Here’s the update: I finally nuked that old alias from my Hotmail and MSN Messenger, then tried swapping in a fresh Google account over on MSN Messenger. Everything is running smooth now—definitely a solid 5/5! Honestly, that one specific issue was driving me absolutely crazy and I just couldn't crack it; it wouldn't even take incoming messages. It's much better this way. Thanks for all the help!😉

Are you getting a specific error message?
If you can send but can't receive, it sounds like an issue with the incoming (POP3) server settings. You might want to double-check what's actually entered there!

pop3.live.com
mail.att.net
My primary email—I set up an alias and it immediately throws an error, so the main one needs to work too.
Plain text—yes
Authentication—yes

I tried all those other variations and they just throw errors right away. I can't send *or* receive anything. Now sending works, but receiving is still totally broken!!!!!!☕

Found something online that might actually help you out. From what I can gather, you need to set up an alias for your MSN Messenger account too.

I did—that’s my situation right now—but check this out: the alias is active in both Hotmail and MSN Messenger. Hotmail works fine; I can send and receive using the alias. But here's the kicker: I can send via Windows Live Mail, but I can't *receive* anything sent to that specific alias through it. What gives? I tried playing around with some data settings, but no luck. Where did I mess up?🤷

Double-check your server settings:
The Incoming Server is pop3.live.com
The Outgoing Server is smtp.live.com

If you're connecting from home using AT&T, then your outgoing server should be: mail.att.net

Try deleting the account entirely and setting it up from scratch; that usually clears things up. 🙂

I actually fixed my issue by just adding a brand new account, and now all my emails are right there. That tutorial was a lifesaver!
But now I've got a new question: I set up an alias in Hotmail, but can I read that alias through Wind.live mail (and send from it too)? Basically, the Hotmail account shows up in MSN Messenger, but the alias doesn't. Can I get the alias to show up, or do I need to create a whole new Hotmail account? If I go the route of creating a new one, can I just add it to my existing setup, or am I forced to start a completely separate Hotmail account? My main goal is having everything land in MSN Messenger so I don't have to jump online constantly. Does that make sense? Or am I just rambling like a total newbie? 😕

I’m having zero issues sending or receiving through the Hotmail web interface, but my Windows Live Mail client just won't pull any mail in—it keeps throwing this error at me.

I can't send or receive anything from my xxxxxxxx@hotmail.com account.
Server Error: 4102
Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8DE00001

So, here's the setup: I have an email address through AT&T, and I set up a rule to forward everything over to my Hotmail account. The Hotmail side works perfectly fine, but then the messages just hit a wall when they try to sync to WLM on my laptop. Where could I have messed this up? Is it an incoming/outgoing setting issue, or does anyone know what this specific error even means?🤷

Benjamin King2 said:The incoming server is provided by your email host—think Gmail or Outlook.com—whereas Windows Live Mail is just the software you use to read the messages.

I mean, I'm definitely getting my emails on Hotmail just fine, but they won't sync over to Windows Live Mail. So it's basically just an issue with receiving? Sending works perfectly fine.🤷

Just create them one at a time—I don't see what the big deal is.

What’s the incoming server for MSN Messenger?
How do I delete an alias in Hotmail?🤷

Just create them one by one—what's the actual issue there?

I think I actually got it working! Thanks!😉

Plus, you can totally use MSN Messenger to check your Hotmail messages—just do a quick search online for the setup steps if you're interested.

"As many as I want"? Fine then—why don't you hook me up with one?

How many email accounts can I set up in Windows Live Mail? I’m not talking about my Hotmail web access—I mean the actual WLM app on my computer. I tried adding one earlier, but I couldn't quite get it to work. I much prefer using the desktop client since I don't have to stay constantly connected to the internet like I do with Hotmail; everything just opens up automatically. Is that a solid way to go, and can I actually add a second account to WLM?☕
