Does birth control cause depression or mood swings?

I was on Yaz 2 for about two and a half years, and for the most part, my depression stayed pretty much in check. But now that I’ve officially stopped taking them, I feel like I’ve been stuck in a total fog for the last week—just completely wiped out. I’m going to wait and see how things settle down, but is it possible my body just got used to the hormones and now I'm dealing with a massive adjustment period while everything tries to level back out? Or is there something else going on? 😕
