Good afternoon,
I am reaching out here because I’m hoping someone might be able to help me. My father’s recent test results have us quite worried, and I was wondering if anyone could help me make sense of what these findings actually mean.
CT Angiography of the aorta with 3D reconstruction

Findings: The ascending aorta appears normal, with no pathological changes noted.
The thoracic aorta shows normal flow and is homogeneously filled with contrast; however, there are atherosclerotic plaques along the wall measuring up to 3.16cm x 3.08cm.
The abdominal aorta follows a normal course down to just below the origin of the renal arteries, showing homogeneous contrast filling and atherosclerotic plaques on the walls. Below the renal artery origins, the abdominal aorta is aneurysmal, containing thrombotic masses along the wall. The diameter of the aneurysm including the thrombotic masses is 5.27cm x 5.20cm, while the active lumen diameter is 3.25cm x 2.74cm.
Distally, the abdominal aorta continues normally into the common iliac arteries, which show normal flow and homogeneous contrast filling, though atherosclerotic plaques are present on the walls.
There are no signs suggesting an aortic dissection or extravasation of the injected contrast medium.
Incidental finding: Two hyperdense lesions, measuring up to 1.4cm, are visible in the parenchyma of the apical portion of the left lung; the etiology is unknown.
Interpretation: Generalized atherosclerosis; Infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Regarding my father's history—he has a genetic predisposition to high blood pressure. On his father's side, the men passed away from heart attacks in their 50s and 60s. He is currently only 44 years old. I am wondering if there are specific dietary approaches that can help manage high blood pressure, and based on these results, what kind of treatment methods would typically be recommended? What exactly do these findings imply for his health?
Thank you in advance.
