I'd love it if someone could describe how they started out in this sport and how they managed at first. I don't know if it's just because I'm a beginner who hasn't trained before, or if it actually takes a long time to master the sport properly.
It’s totally normal to struggle with remembering everything at first; everyone goes through it because Jiu-Jitsu involves so many tiny details. At the start, just try to focus and give it your all to soak up as much as possible. To be honest, none of us currently training—or even those who have trained in the past—got everything right right away. Just stay patient and persistent, and it will pay off! ^^
From my experience as an instructor, it usually takes about 6 months to grasp the basics, though that varies for everyone since it's an individual journey. Just take it slow.
Truthfully, I haven't met anyone who has "mastered" Jiu-Jitsu... it's a lifelong learning process. You can learn a specific technique so you can execute it, but truly understanding the core essence of a move? That’s for those who find their passion and fall in love with Jiu-Jitsu.
So just take it easy and don't worry too much; you should approach Jiu-Jitsu with love. 🙂
Best regards!
