Hey,
My laptop is going haywire—it keeps spamming the "W" key and I can't make it stop. Plus, some other letters aren't even working.
Questions:
Is this some kind of virus? (Malwarebytes isn't flagging anything)
How do I kill the built-in keyboard for good? I'm just using an external one anyway.
Hey.
Is it actually possible for a bunch of keys on a laptop keyboard to just stop working because of some software glitch? (And if so, any way to fix it?)
Thomas Wells5 said:First off, don't bother buying a new screen. You'll get ripped off by some local shop for like $200+, which is more than the damn laptop is even worth.
Check Craigslist or eBay. Best bet is to pop the screen off and check the model number on the back. Most 15.6" thicker displays fit, though you have those slim ones too. Just make sure you check which side the connector is on and if it's 30 or 40 pins—it’s probably 40.
You can definitely find a used, fully working one for $300-$133
You don't even need to tear down the whole laptop to swap the screen!!!
Just pop the bezel off—those clips around the screen should snap right out with your fingers—then unscrew the hinges. You might have two screws on the bezel itself near the hinges left and right.
And about the RAM, I assume that's what you meant. You don't need to gut the whole machine for that either. There's usually just a panel on the bottom you pop off to swap sticks.
My advice? If you haven't done this before, don't. Pay a buddy who actually knows what they're doing$33 to handle it. They can knock it all out in 20 minutes if they know the drill.
thanks. Figure I'll also swap the thermal paste and blow out the dust while I'm at it, so I might as well tinker with it myself.
Morning, afternoon, evening, whatever.
I need a screen for my Dell Inspiron 15—not broken, just damaged. Since I'm already tearing it apart, I might as well bump the RAM from 2MB up to 8MB.
Basically, which shops are actually worth dealing with?
thanks
Hey, nobody's really biting on that other thread about peripherals, so I'm crossing my fingers someone here actually knows their stuff. So,
is there some kind of add-on that turns a USB printer wireless—kind of like how you'd make a mouse wireless? Looking for something reasonably priced. The printer in question is an HP LaserJet P2035.
If this thing even exists, drop a link below.
thanks
hey
is there some kind of adapter that turns a USB printer wireless—basically making it act like a wireless mouse? looking for something mid-range on price, nothing crazy
if this thing actually exists, please drop a link
thanks
Hey,
I've been refilling my HP301 cartridges for ages, but after six years, my printer finally kicked the bucket. I'm looking at new models now and was wondering—if I refill the HP302 or HP304 chips, do they actually need resetting?
thanks

It was on Vista, but I put a seven on it since my company's IT guy sticks to Windows 7. Can this thing even run Windows XP?
hey,
Got stuck with this Dell Inspiron at work. It’s painfully slow and Google Chrome keeps crashing on me.
And yeah, there's zero chance I'm getting anything better than this junk.
Specs: AMD Pentium dual CPU T2330 1.6 GHz
1 GB RAM, 895 MB usable
64-bit OS
Windows 7 Enterprise
Wondering if tossing more RAM in there actually helps, or if I'm just wasting my time? What would you guys try? A newer model isn't an option—if I mess this one up, they'll just hand me some other piece of scrap from the warehouse.
How much extra memory is gonna run me, and where should I even look for it?
later, thanks.
Hey,
Looking for some advice on the best drive to grab by $167. I don't really care about speed—just need something reliable with a solid warranty since it’s just for storing old docs I don't need right now. Drop some links if you got 'em.
Thanks.
Dana Mendoza3 said:Can anyone spare some extra ink for an HP DeskJet 3550? Or maybe just give away an old printer with the right ink? Please, I'm desperate.
Just buy the kid some ink and get those refill syringes from a pharmacy—you can get about 15-20 refills of 4ml each. If the print head dries up, just wipe it with a wet wipe. Honestly, I've been refilling the cartridge that came with my printer for a whole year now.

Look, if they’re that hard to impress, the topic doesn't even matter. Just talk to them and have them fake some interest. Hand a few questions to a couple of people so they can grill you at the end—make it look like they actually care about the subject but just need a little clarification,
Hey
where can I pick up some black ink for refilling HP toner?
thanks
