Postpartum hernia: What to expect? in Women's Health ·
First off, hello everyone—I’m really hoping someone here might be able to share some insight with me. Has anyone ever had to undergo hernia surgery following a C-section? In my case, they had to cut through the muscle too, and now I feel like I've somehow swallowed a basketball... which is just so frustrating because I’ve always been naturally thin with a flat stomach, but now, well, things are definitely different 😢 !!!!
I was also wondering if anyone has any firsthand experience with the Mayo Clinic—I’m actually scheduled for surgery there in about 7 or 8 days, and to be completely honest, I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed. I don't know much about what to expect, and I’m genuinely scared about how the procedure will turn out... I mean, will I ever truly get back to my old self?
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, does anyone know anything about the surgeon? She’s an abdominal surgeon who would be performing my operation at the Mayo Clinic... what is she like? And am I making the right call by choosing this hospital?
Thank you all so much in advance—any bit of information or advice you could offer would honestly mean the world to me right now!!!!
C-section: Questions and potential complications... in Women's Health ·
I’m reaching out because I really need some advice—if anyone can help, I’d be so grateful. It’s been nine months since I had an Imperial Cut, and my stomach still looks as if I’m seven or eight months pregnant. I went to see a specialist privately, and they told me that my abdominal muscles have essentially separated—basically, that I have a hernia and my core isn't holding anything in place anymore. To be honest, I feel pretty desperate; I can't even hold my baby properly without pain. My experience at the hospital was... well, it was difficult. I was kept there for a month, and looking back, there were so many mistakes made. They found a clot in my left subclavian vein, too. Even now, I don't actually know which surgeon performed the delivery or the procedure right after I woke up from anesthesia—one doctor mentioned blood clots in my abdomen, while another said it was internal bleeding, so I'm just very confused. Yesterday, I requested a full copy of my medical records from the hospital, and they just called to tell me I need to pay $34 before I can come pick up the paperwork. It feels like I won't even know the names of the doctors who treated me until I go through all this. Has anyone else dealt with something similar? I've always been quite thin—actually, I used to be underweight with a very flat stomach where you could see muscle definition—but now everyone assumes I'm pregnant. On top of that, the physical pain is making it impossible to do anything active.
Thank you so much in advance.
--please forgive me if this topic has already been discussed; I've been searching the forums for two days and just couldn't find anything. I really didn't want to start a new thread if one already existed, but this has become quite urgent. I'm currently in San Diego, but in a few days, I'll be heading to Vineyard for surgery, so I would truly appreciate any advice or insight you might have.
