I’m looking for some recommendations for an oncologist here in New York City. It doesn't necessarily have to be a private practice—I'd honestly just prefer anyone you’ve had a truly positive experience with.
Thanks a ton for all the input.
Could someone please give me a quick breakdown of my mother's test results that came in today?
DG/ Meta lymph interpectoralis (Rotteri) R. side
Status post segmental mastectomy of right axilla due to suspected carcinoma
Status post chemotherapy
OP/ Remove Rotteri lymph nodes
PHD/ Metastatic carcinoma in the lymph nodes
The patient was admitted to our unit for workup and surgical treatment regarding suspected metastatic changes in the interpectoral and axillary lymph nodes. Previous medical records are attached. Following an adequate diagnostic workup, surgery was performed on September 7, 2010, as noted above, and the following pathology was obtained. The postoperative course was normal.
Home care, with the instruction to report to the internal oncology and radiology departments at the City Cancer Center for evaluation and opinion regarding further oncological treatment. Surgical follow-up in 2 months, or sooner if necessary.
A tissue sample measuring 8.6 x 3.5 x 1 cm was received, of which the transverse striated muscle measures 6 x 3 x 1 cm; macroscopically, it looks normal. In the remaining tissue section, several confluent lymph nodes measuring 7-9 mm are visible; they appear white and fatty upon sectioning. Histologically, within the described lymph nodes, large clusters of atypical epithelial cells are seen breaking through the lymph node capsules and infiltrating the surrounding connective and fatty tissue.
A tissue sample measuring 9.5 x 4.5 x 1.7 cm was received, which histologically shows breast parenchyma ("tail" of the breast) with non-proliferative and proliferative fibrocystic disease along with several foci of lobular hyperplasia.
Could someone please give me a quick breakdown of the pathology report my mother received today?
DG/ Right meta lymph interpectoralis (Rotter's) node index
Status post segmental resection and axillary dissection, right side, stage IV breast cancer
Status post chemotherapy
OP/ Surgical removal of Rotter's lymph nodes
PHD/ Metastatic carcinoma in the lymph nodes
The patient was referred to our department for evaluation and surgical management of suspected metastases in the interpectoral and axillary nodes. Previous medical records were provided. Following appropriate diagnostic workup, surgery was indicated and performed on September 7th, resulting in the findings above. The postoperative course was normal.
Home care instructions: The patient should follow up with the internal oncology and radiology departments at the Mayo Clinic for consultation regarding further oncological treatment. Surgical follow-up is scheduled in 2 months, or sooner if needed.
A tissue specimen measuring 8.6 x 3.5 x 1 cm was received, containing a cross-striated muscle segment measuring 6 x 3 x 1 cm, which appears normal macroscopically. In the remaining tissue section, several confluent lymph nodes (7-9 mm in diameter) are visible, appearing white and fatty in color. Histologically, these lymph nodes contain large clusters of atypical epithelial cells that have breached the node capsules and are infiltrating the surrounding connective and fatty tissue.
A second tissue specimen measuring 9.5 x 4.5 x 1.7 cm was received. Histology shows breast parenchyma with non-proliferative and proliferative fibrocystic disease, along with several areas of lobular hyperplasia.
I’m looking for some urgent recommendations for a solid, patient private dentist in the NYC area who won't completely break the bank.
It's for my mom. The dentist she used a few years back didn't properly seal her root canals, and now she’s dealing with a bridge and some serious inflammation underneath everything. The guy she's seeing now is just too rushed, impatient, and honestly, pretty rude. I really need to find someone skilled, gentle, and willing to take their time.
Could someone please help me make sense of my mom's kidney CT scan? She had surgery for breast cancer about three years ago.
In the distal part of the left adrenal gland, where the limbs meet, there's a triangular shape measuring 1.3 cm wide. The attenuation values look like solid tissue at +22 HU. Meanwhile, the right one is enlarged and shaped somewhat like a sphere toward the top, measuring 1.6x1.2 cm, with low attenuation values of -9 HU. This mostly looks like a small expansive process coming from the cortex—basically an adrenal adenoma. Just below that enlarged area, the two limbs appear normal in size.
These findings need to be monitored and compared against previous scans.
The left kidney has a standard cortical cyst in the upper pole and middle third area, measuring 5.8x4.7 cm axially. There are also two small hyperdense cysts, 9 mm each, located dorsally in the middle third and ventrally in the lower pole.
On the right kidney, in the lower pole area, there's a hypodense focal lesion measuring 9 mm. The attenuation values are down to -96 HU, so it’s most likely just a tiny lipoma. Further up in the middle third near the lateral edge, there's another tiny 4-5 mm hyperdense focal lesion. The renal collecting systems aren't dilated.
Thanks in advance!
