Highly sensitive people (HSPs) in Psychology & Therapy ·
jadeowl2 said:Yeah, I guess, though I’m not totally sold on whether that’s a mandatory trait for empaths or if everyone with high sensitivity actually functions that way.

I’ve got this built-in sense of detachment that honestly keeps me sane, and as for everything else... I think some solid meditation and practice really helped pull me through.

Can you get specific about how that actually helped? 🙂

Specifically regarding meditation...
People have suggested it to me a million times, but I just can't find the motivation. I always end up feeling like I'm doing the whole thing wrong.😁

Look, you keep insisting that they don't want a relationship with *anyone*, but let's be real—you don't actually believe that. You're just trying to convince yourself so it's easier to swallow the fact that they don't want to commit to you.

Even if it were true that they aren't looking for anything serious, who gives a damn?
How does that even affect you personally?

It's pretty obvious you want something real, which means you two just aren't a match.
So why can't you just walk away?

Trust me, you absolutely can.

There is that possibility 🕺. But people always jump in before me. So what if someone takes issue with it? "Bugs Bunny, what are you going to do about it? This is just my opinion 🙂." Maybe an ad hominem attack flies my way.

So what? Am I not allowed to speak like that? Fine, if you say so 🙂.

Look, I get it. It's in your interest to bark when something bothers you, because people react more to women's problems. I think it's instinctual. You identify with her. Maybe you've lived through it too. Naturally, the narrative will be biased.

Like I said, you wouldn't get it because every single one of your "serious" posts is just a massive vent for your deep-seated issues with women. Case closed.

Go ahead, have another little cry.

Look, once you start getting tangled up in messes with people like this—especially when you've already been dropping those red-flag comments—there's a pretty good chance those mental struggles were already there. This whole relationship isn't the cause; it's just the fallout.

If you actually thought we were saying stuff like, "Oh honey, he's not worth it, go smash his car lol" or "Just sabotage his birth control so he can't leave, haha," then you totally missed the point. We weren't being petty; we were just pointing out the obvious—that this guy is straight-up using her, and she’s just sitting there baffled because she can't read his blatant red flags.

But hey, I guess you interpreted it as us launching a full-scale assault on the entire male gender, didn't you?🤣

The issue is with you. You’re an adult. You are responsible for your own actions.

So you want a man to take responsibility for you? Then you don't deserve anything better.

Yeah. Exactly. ☕When a woman is a bit underwhelmed, yet it’s really just a matter of two adults reaching an agreement, the logical conclusion is that the man is some kind of selfish predator, an exploiter, a total scumbag, and a disgusting human being. Typical. 😵.

That’s all it takes to spark a feminist uprising. Just hint that some guy got laid for free without even trying. 😁.

Can you actually, ever, just once, answer a question without bringing up some imaginary male discrimination?
It’s pretty obvious you can’t, because every single one of your damn posts feels like a direct outlet for your own frustrations and projections.

Look, I know myself, and while I can't speak for every woman you've quoted, I'm betting they’d all say the exact same thing if the situation involved some naive, young, insecure kid being played by someone more dominant and experienced—regardless of whether that person was a man or a woman.

But I guess that's something you'll never wrap your head around, since you're always letting your own complexes drive everything you say about gender dynamics.

Raymond Booth40 said:I’ve been in an open relationship—more like "friends with benefits"—with my partner for nearly four years now. I can't imagine walking away from this, but I have to wonder if there's any hope for things to change. He has told me repeatedly that he has zero interest in a committed relationship with anyone. To give some context, I spent five years on my own after leaving my previous partner, who ended up having a child with someone else. Now, my current partner tells me straight to my face that he doesn't care about the arrangement; he’s perfectly happy doing whatever he wants, and when I asked if it would stay this way forever, he said yes. It feels devastating to think this is all it will ever be. Is there actually anything that can be done here? Honestly, I feel a bit ashamed that I've allowed this to drag on for so long. It’s a sad situation, truly. While I wouldn't say I'm deeply attached, I find myself unable to walk away entirely. When I confronted him about it, he just gave me a Quote: "I'm fine like this. I don't want a relationship with anyone, period."

You clearly lack enough self-respect, and it's no surprise some jerk who's way older than you decided to take advantage of that.
But look, it's already been four years, and there isn't even a tiny hint that he’s going to change, fall in love with you, or take you seriously.

He literally told you to your face, too. 🤷

It is never too late to bail on a bad situation. Period. You need to grow a backbone and decide you aren't going to let yourself get played anymore.

As for that pregnancy thing... 😵
Don't you dare go through with that.

Because trust me, you won't achieve anything by doing that.
Based on that "idea" of yours, I'm starting to hope you're just trolling.

I’m actually doing a pretty decent job of holding back here. Mostly because I’m just straight-up cheap 😬
