I don't get it. 🤔 It’s a religion class, for crying out loud. There isn't really any room for Santa Claus in there. Then again, I guess she wasn't exactly lying to them. 🤷

Can we please stop going off-topic? Just a reminder—the subject here is religious education in public schools.

Try reading that last post from Robert Rodriguez9 again, but this time actually process what he said along with your own previous comment.

And please, stop spamming posts back-to-back. This is your final warning. There’s a "multi-quote" button—use it. It’s exhausting having to manually stitch your posts together. Take a second to look over the rules, specifically this.

Just a quick thought on this: my grandmother was a believer, but she was also wise enough to know that God doesn't live inside a church building.

So sure, there’s no such thing as free will, kids don't exist, sin isn't real, and there are zero problems. 🤷

At my school, we only have one shift, so all the electives end up being in the afternoon (except for religion class, obviously 🙄).

I mean, they aren't at school to act as nannies, and from what I know, schools employ teachers, not daycare workers....
If someone looks out for them because they want to, cool... if not, also cool... it's not their job.....

Right. That’s why professors volunteer to supervise recess instead of taking a break, grabbing coffee, or just chilling out... 🙄

Because at the end of the day, this should primarily be a secular nation.

I remember this one girl from the class next door who didn't stay for after-school programs. She’d hang out with us for about an hour during her gap period since she missed the school lunch window. She wasn't just loitering in the hallway, either. As for the actual classes, we never had any gaps because they didn't offer electives during the regular school day back then. So... ☕

And honestly, treating premarital sex as this huge sin feels silly—it was probably brought in much later for other reasons, mostly medical, and the church just acted as a marketing tool, I suppose.

poor kids, I guess. does everyone think kids today need someone to hold their hand just to walk to a playground or a gym or anywhere else? I don't recall anyone ever babysitting us while we were stuck in class back in the day.

I don't remember anyone having any gaps in their elementary school schedule.

Yeah, we saw some fours, even a few threes here and there, though I don't think any of them actually hit the mark. 🤔

If they wanted to, they could move religion classes—just like any other elective—to a different block. It doesn't have to be the first period or the last; there are plenty of slots in between.
It’s funny, though—our teacher once told us it was "logistically impossible" to fit the religious studies class into the schedule when she thought only a couple of kids were interested. But the second she realized half the class was actually signed up? Suddenly, it’s perfectly doable. Quite the convenient shift in logic, wouldn't you say?

And don't even get me started on the timing. My kid finishes their core classes around 1:05 PM, only to have an Italian language elective starting at 2:00 PM. Why? Because the instructor works across three different districts, so the entire school schedule has to bend over backward just to accommodate one person's commute!

It’s about the Vatican agreement. People have been discussing this constantly. Just scroll back through a few pages.
As for making everything first or last period—that's just not realistic for everyone.

Why would a high school even allow that? The district doesn't pay the staff—the state does. If they want to pay for extra hours, they can deal with it themselves since they already signed that agreement. Right now, everything is strictly voluntary.

I'm with Richard Fowler13 on this one. 👍 A friend of mine has a kid who had this exact same teacher, and she can't say enough good things about him.

Art was always just a one-hour block once a week, and music was the same deal—one hour weekly. 🤔

Sarah Hall53 said:So, the original post actually popped up on my Facebook feed, and I should probably clear up one little detail: she didn't send him a DM or anything—it was an email. Then, she just took that whole exchange and posted it right on her public wall. (Honestly, I highly doubt she even bothered asking him if it was okay to share. Very classy, right?)
His response—aside from being pretty rude and dismissive—is mostly just technologically illiterate. If he’d just put his spaces and punctuation in the right spots, he wouldn't come across quite so uneducated. Personally, I think it's great that a 64-year-old guy is even using email to communicate; we really shouldn't be nitpicking him for that. (It would have been even better if the tone were polite, but hey, you can't always have everything 😁 )

My bad. I wasn't reading closely enough. Either way, it makes sense. 🤦 Clearly, he bruised the lady's ego.

It’s honestly pathetic that she decided to confront the teacher over Facebook. There are official channels for this kind of thing, and besides, he isn't even the one in charge—that would be the principal. Now they’re just dragging an educator who's about to retire through the mud, and frankly, it makes me question both their literacy and their sense of ethics.
The reason they're pushing everyone to get vaccinated for free right now is pretty simple: they’re just trying to burn through stockpiles before they expire.

In our future school model, we won't have a set number of grades per year. Some spots will just have one grade, some two, and others three. It’s not about religious studies or anything, but it's definitely an option. I'm no expert, but it seems to me that if a school is short on hours, they could just make up the difference at another location. 🤔
