Willpower is everything. I'm 28, and I needed an outlet. The gym doesn't do it for me—pumping iron in a stuffy room is boring, and running lacks that sense of speed. It just isn't it. I picked up a starter bike, but I've already swapped out the stock front wheel—which had 32 spokes—for a lighter Shimano setup with 23mm tires, and now I’m flying. I started with the same goal you have: to be as fast as possible on the road.🙂Physically, I'm 5'8" and 148 lbs.🙂From what I can tell, the best way to do this is to pick one specific route away from heavy traffic and track your average speed. That's the only way to see real progress. I've only been riding this bike intensely for about six weeks, and I can already see the gains. I've covered roughly 746 miles. My last four rides were all on the exact same loop, measuring exactly 45 miles each time... and I'm shaving minutes off my previous times every single ride because I keep meticulous records.

I bought new 622-23c tires today. Tomorrow, I'm smashing my personal record.🙂
