Lump at the base of my thumb

So, at the base of my right thumb, on the inner side, the joint looks kind of "bulged out" compared to my left one—literally just a little bump. I was lugging around some heavy buckets for a few days, and then I noticed it right when my thumb started aching a bit. It’s been about two weeks now, and the pain is pretty much gone, except if I press on the spot itself. My thumb moves totally fine, but this little thing is kind of bugging me. I guess before I head to the doctor, does anyone know what might be going on?
