Eric Gray2 said:Alright, let's get serious here—for the very last time.

You aren't going to get "accurate" answers from psychological assessment tools unless you're a licensed psychologist. Period. It’s against the Psychology Act, and honestly, whether you personally agree with those legal regulations or not doesn't change the reality of the situation—it's just a moot point at this stage. I thought we had all established where we stand on this by now, so if anyone keeps pushing this same argument, I'm going to consider it nothing more than trolling.

Look, anyone can give an answer—that's just freedom of speech, right? 🥱

I couldn't care less about licenses or those little lobbying groups. 👍

Jacob Long said:granitegull51, look—logic dictates that if an answer works for you, then it’s right, isn't it?
certain jobs look for specific personalities—so if you read the job description, you can basically guess what kind of profile they're hunting for, right?

I ran into one question that felt totally pointless—I mean, all my emotional needs are met as it is.
so option a) says they're met—which, yeah, they are.
option b) is just... undefined?
and option c) says they aren't.

The whole thing felt stupid—too personal, honestly. And besides, how are you even supposed to answer? It's like, do you even realize what you're asking me?🤔

Obviously, requirements vary by role, but in these cases, people always pick C, otherwise the employers assume you'll be a dissatisfied and difficult employee.😉

Arthur Campbell2 said:There’s no such thing as a "right" or "wrong" answer when you're dealing with personality inventories (and let's be clear—these aren't "tests").

But—there is this thing called social desirability bias. That’s basically just the tendency for people to dodge the truth and give answers they think the other party "wants to hear" just to look better. And that, Danielle, is exactly what you’re getting at. Though I assume you realize that—as Eric Gray2 pointed out—nobody in their right mind is going to sit you down and coach you on how to lie effectively during a personality assessment. 🙄

So, I don't see much point in repeating the mantra "there are no right or wrong answers, "correct" just means what applies to you" to someone who has already made it obvious they don't care about being honest—they just want to know what kind of employees companies are hunting for so they can game the system. Which, honestly? Fine by me. It's okay to want that info, but you aren't actually going to get it. 😁

Besides, employers aren't always looking for the same type of person. Different roles require different traits; one job might need one specific set of characteristics, while another needs something else entirely.

Basically, during any hiring process, your goal as a candidate is to figure out which traits are preferred and tweak your answers accordingly (without overdoing it, obviously, unless you want to get caught). On the flip side, the psychologist evaluating you is just trying to sniff out exactly how much you're bluffing. 😉

I mean, recruitment processes... who wouldn't want to play that game? 😁

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head.

Everyone lies—including psychologists and those HR ladies who pretend they’re actually making progress, only for some American manager to just pick their tenth favorite candidate anyway 😁

Basically, psychometric testing is just a useless circus where employees act like robots and managers pretend they're being intelligent. 🍿

Morgan Thompson12 said:If anyone here has hired an agency to run those assessments for hiring purposes, could you give me a ballpark figure on the cost? I honestly can't wrap my head around what it would run to testing 30 or 40 candidates.

Feel free to shoot me a DM if that's easier.

It really just depends on how much sales talk you're willing to swallow; there are testing services everywhere...

You're being ridiculous. 🙂

If you want the manual, just check the Psychology Act—all the "right" answers are laid out right there. 😉

I really hope you aren't just trolling this thread!

People are looking for real, concrete answers here, not some kind of fake moral high ground.
Personality tests: Thoughts? in Psychology ·
Eric Gray2 said:Maybe take the trolling somewhere else next time.

That depends on a whole lot of different factors—really. Besides, you aren't going to get a straight answer like that from anyone with half a brain, which is exactly why that kind of information is kept under wraps for a reason.

I don't see what's so confidential about this; we aren't talking about nuclear physics or top-secret military intel here.

Look, I'm not really interested in all the "it depends" talk. Let's just look at a typical American corporation looking to hire some entry-level grunt work—what are the actual, "correct" answers to those questions?

Brenda Hughes2 said:Psychological assessments often include a built-in consistency check—basically a lie scale—so it’s actually much smarter to just be honest rather than trying to game the system. 😁

Even if they throw in whatever kind of scale they want, people tend to answer similar questions in pretty much the same way—either consistently or just staying neutral 😉

So, if that's the case, what does an "Accurate-Desired" answer even look like?
Personality tests: Thoughts? in Psychology ·
Brenda Hughes2 said:Whatever matters most to you 😁

Honestly, that doesn't really matter 😁

From an employer's perspective, which answers would actually be considered "Accurate-Desired"?

hiddenviper13 said:The thing is, pretty much every HR department and recruiter uses these kinds of assessments. Here’s a few more examples from that vibe:

When someone does something that bugs me, I usually:
-just let it slide
-tell them directly that it bothers me

I really get a kick out of the edgy humor on certain TV shows:
-Accurate-Desired
-Not accurate

I generally prefer making my own plans without everyone else chiming in:
-Accurate-Desired
-Not accurate

My philosophy is more along the lines of:
-you need to stay serious in everyday life
-it's better to just laugh things off

My style of dress is usually:
-neat and understated;
-flashy and trendy

I find people with unconventional opinions really interesting.
-Accurate-Desired
-not accurate

So, I'm curious, which answers are actually considered Accurate-Desired by an employer?

Well, that's about it!

So, what should I actually circle on a job assessment?

Everything is available, but honestly, most people don't actually need it.

I’ve always just stuck with the most basic motherboards, and despite all the dust and constantly messing around with components, nothing has ever died on me.

Larry Ortiz5 said:I honestly don't get why you're being so stubborn about this. Look, if you want to actually overclock your CPU or bump up the voltage, or if you’re planning on running three GPUs in SLI, you just can't do that on an $100 board. They didn't design high-end boards for power users like that. A $300-$133 motherboard is really meant for people who just want to browse the web and watch movies. If you're a hardcore gamer, that's a completely different conversation 🙂

In my opinion, the OP probably isn't even going to touch overclocking, and they definitely don't need fifty USB ports, so I really don't see the point in paying for a more expensive board.

I'm pretty much convinced that having "cleaner" power delivery on a pricier motherboard might boost your performance by maybe, what, one single FPS?

fadedorca66 said:You really can't compare an HDMI cable to a motherboard 🤣

I mean, they're both just wires inside plastic wrappers, right?😉

Sure, having extra slots might be great if you're deep into overclocking, but honestly, I don't think the average buyer actually cares about that. Most modern motherboards these days already come packed with plenty of slots, plus built-in audio, networking, the whole nine yards...

A lot of that premium pricing is just pure marketing—kind of like how people justify buying a Rolex-Casio. If someone wants to pay extra for the name, hey, that's on them.

It would only make sense for the price to be higher if the boards were physically sturdier or had significantly better cooling solutions, but I have my doubts that's actually what's happening here.

Robert Rodriguez2 said:Basically, you get better capacitors, which means cleaner power delivery to all the motherboard components—the PCI lanes, the RAM, the CPU itself, and so on...

But you aren't going to find that kind of quality on a board from $100.

Sure, maybe, but honestly, it doesn't really change anything in practice.

It’s kind of like when they tested those HDMI cables ranging from 35-$667 feet; there was absolutely no noticeable difference:

mellowtiger83 said:Guys, they’ve got a point here. There isn't much sense in grabbing such a budget motherboard, and there are actually quite a few reasons why.

Even if the raw performance ends up being the same, those pricier boards usually come with a much higher quality PCB, better capacitors, and all that good stuff. Plus, they just look a lot nicer—though I guess if you aren't rocking a clear acrylic case, the aesthetics might not matter as much to you.🙂

But what does that actually give you besides just looking pretty?

Are those high-end boards actually more durable when it comes to things like physical warping, heat resistance, or whatever else?

Robert Rodriguez2 said:The whole debate isn't actually about whether your motherboard is going to boost your FPS while you're gaming.
The real point is that a solid motherboard serves as the foundation for a reliable PC... Even if the board technically has everything you need, like USB 3.0 and all that stuff...

Putting a board from $100 into a rig that costs nearly $900 just to squeeze out every last drop of performance feels a little silly to me.
But hey, at the end of the day, it's your money and your call. 🙂

Why though?
It seems like my client has completely forgotten where I left off and which torrent was actually active last.

Every single time I launch the app, it defaults to a window that’s just slightly smaller than maximized, with some random torrent sitting right in the middle of the screen, forcing me to scroll around just to find what I need.🙂

This should do the trick to reset the password.

I actually have a bootable USB tool that lets you get in without even resetting the password, though I'm honestly not 100% sure if it'll play nice with Windows 7 since it hasn't been updated since version 1.0.
Pebble Beach Golf Links and the American Medical Association—is it actually possible for criminals to legalize this kind of mess?

Seriously, what is going on with this whole corruption scandal?

Over at Pebble Beach Golf Links on Atlantic Avenue, groundwater levels surged, causing some serious flooding in the open areas. The rising water was actually threatening to flood the electrical substation located right inside the club grounds.

The City of New York emergency services, the Hrašće Fire Department, crews from Smallville, the standby teams from General Electric, an engineer from the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the emergency response unit from the Office of Management and Budget all had to head out to the scene.

Water management authorities provided the necessary sandbags, and they managed to build a temporary levee around the substation. After a quick inspection, they confirmed that the substation itself didn't sustain any damage.

It looks like they’re finally feeling the heat. And honestly, since when does a "country club" even have a substation sitting right there on the property like that???

Or, if you want to make things even easier on yourself—just toss the link right into your favorites!

The real struggle here is that I actually have to hunt down my own post first! Otherwise, I might just have to drop a little "spam" comment just so I can get a post on the board and move things along.

I honestly don't get it—how does everyone on that other forum manage to sort this out in like, two clicks? It’s so seamless over there. But here? I feel like I have to go on this whole scavenger hunt first, digging through old posts or hunting down some specific favorite link just to get anything done. It’s a bit of a struggle!🙂🙄

Or, you can just go to a thread where you've posted recently and click on your own username; it'll immediately give you the option to 'find more posts by granitegull51.'

Right, because apparently we all need ten extra clicks, or we have to manually type in a name, or save a specific URL... just to get things done.🙄

Is it really too much to ask if they could just put that option in a quick menu or somewhere accessible in two clicks? It feels like such a chore!

Sorry—I couldn't find any matches. Maybe try using some different keywords?

There’s no link available once you actually log in. Honestly, this is the only forum I've ever used that lacks such a basic, fundamental feature.
