A True fan on this forum—one of the good ones! 😁

Alright, enough side-tracking, time to actually get some work done... 🙂

I find it rather absurd how most people were so incensed by team orders that effectively prevented drivers from doing the very thing we tune in to see in Formula 1, yet those same people now turn around and condemn Sebastian Vettel for his racing maneuvers. Personally, I should much prefer it if all drivers simply ignored the regulations during a race; let them actually race, shouldn't they?

Edward Howard2 said:Thanks for the heads-up, The_End, but no worries here. We already know exactly how ruggedhawk20 feels about the teacher... and we didn't even need to trek over to the Ferrari thread to find out. 😍

Just hearing "Alonso, Alonso!", all the cheering, and the clapping... 🙏

And yeah, we also heard what ruggedhawk20 thinks about the finger... the boos and the "booooooooo"... honestly, at this point, it's basically become a routine. 😂

Let the mob boo and let them chant; Sebastian Vettel continues to win regardless. He has finally caught up to Fernando Alonso in total victories, hasn't he?

Raymond Anderson4 said:They basically held Sergio Perez up in the pits today.
LOL, they were swapping his tires, but that guy in front held him up for an extra second or two—just enough to let Jenson Button slip past.
Now, some people are going to call this nonsense, but I’m convinced this was all part of the script.
Instead of letting them fight it out on the track, they just stalled him in the pits to avoid any of those Perez-Button showdowns.

You know, I completely missed that detail. 🤔

Last year, while driving for Sauber, Sergio Perez finished 15 seconds ahead of Fernando Alonso.
And?

And nothing happens. Perhaps we should consider if this is actually the right moment to judge him based solely on that single metric...

Jason Campbell70 said:That part of your post doesn't matter to me. I didn't even address it.

You also failed to mention the fact that Nico Hulkenberg finished a mere five seconds behind The Spaniard while driving for Sauber. Wouldn't it be quite refreshing if Ferrari were to actually sign Nico Hulkenberg for the upcoming season, just so we could finally settle this debate once and for all?

Jason Campbell70 said:I'm not an Alonso fan, but I'll weigh in.

From where I'm sitting, Hulkenberg wouldn't just be "more competitive" than Alonso in this field... he'd probably have the championship locked up by September.

Forget one or two titles. 🙏

I wonder, which part of the question regarding how satisfied Alonso's supporters can be with his current performance remains unclear?

Don't get me wrong, I’d love nothing more than to see an Alonso victory, but maybe this outcome is for the best. It would have been nice to grab a win before the season ends, but let's be honest—there's zero room left for false hope regarding the pursuit of the Formula 1 World Championship or any chance of Red Bull Racing and Sebastian Vettel actually pulling it off.

The team deserves credit for sweeping up everything in sight, but now they really need to buckle down, fix their mistakes, and address those glaring weaknesses.

Given how this Ferrari car has performed, winning on two consecutive tracks like this was only possible because they started on the front row. And even then, it was barely a guarantee. Since hitting the front row has felt like reaching for the moon all season long, I’m not even viewing today as a shock. This is just the reality of the current grid.
Maybe some other team will figure things out at the next race, but right now, Red Bull Racing and Ferrari are the ones to beat. That said, Ferrari really dropped the ball between Spain and Belgium.

Amanda Kelly said:Lewis Hamilton 🤷
In a car that gave him podiums for four races straight,
in the exact same car that our most dedicated forum regular claims is the biggest threat to his favorite driver and the whole team,
in a car where his own teammate finished over 20 seconds ahead of him.
So what? Even if he pulled off 330 overtakes, what good does that actually do him? What kind of success is that???
Unless, of course, you consider overtaking those two pathetic McLarens to be some kind of achievement.

A significant portion of your argument holds weight, I suppose. It seems to me that Lewis Hamilton's race was fundamentally compromised by yesterday's chaotic turn of events during Q2, for which he himself bears at least partial responsibility—though he did step up and take the blame. However, what truly occupies my thoughts is how much satisfaction the fans of Fernando Alonso can actually derive from today's performance. Is it not possible that, within a Ferrari of this caliber, Nico Hulkenberg might have proven to be a far more formidable competitor than Fernando Alonso himself?

Sebastian Vettel simply outclassed Fernando Alonso with such ease, much like how Felipe Massa routinely let him slip away. And now, we watch as Fernando Alonso predictably lets yet another championship title slide through his fingers. Is there anything more predictable in this sport? Life truly is a beautiful thing, isn't it? 😁

Props to him. No whining about a bad car or any of that usual drama. He just stepped up, owned the result, and didn't try to throw the Adrian Sutil boy under the bus. 👍

The kid has definitely grown up. 👍
I'll be rooting for him tomorrow. Hopefully he can grab at least a podium spot.🙂

Nico Rosberg mentioned that there’s a distinct possibility of rain moving in, and since we all know just how much that Mercedes-Benz excels when the track gets slick, perhaps there is still reason to hold onto some hope for a strong performance in this race.
Perhaps we might also allow ourselves to harbor a little hope that we’ll witness the Mercedes-Benz cars making a real breakthrough today—maybe even fighting their way all the way onto the podium? As for my own allegiances, I find myself rooting for both Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton today!

The Best F1 driver As specified by Joseph Peterson8:
But what exactly are they?
To be perfectly honest, I feel that Fernando Alonso proved himself today to be nothing more than a complete disappointment, rather than the legend we were led to believe. Is this truly the raw material required to forge a champion? One cannot help but wonder if we are witnessing the foundational elements of greatness being laid down before our very eyes, or if it is merely a fleeting moment of brilliance that will ultimately fade when the pressure intensifies..

Is it even possible to say that Fernando Alonso is merely "championship material"? I find myself wondering if that description doesn't actually undersell him quite significantly. To call him such would be a simplification, wouldn't it? In my estimation, he isn't just someone capable of winning a title; he is a champion in his very essence.

stormybadger8 said:So what are they?
Honestly, Alonso proved today he’s just a total fraud, not championship material.
That guy is destined to be second best forever... seriously, every single time he actually has a real shot and the right tools, he completely chokes.

If he couldn't even grab a Pole this time, then he's absolutely hopeless...
If I remember correctly, you were just arguing a little while ago that Alonso is faster than Massa in qualifying by half a second... which I shut down with a mountain of data proving it's more like 0.350...

Now, just do the math: look at where Massa is—who nobody is helping through qualifying—compared to Vettel, and then imagine where Alonso would be if he were 0.300 to 0.500 slower...

Based on all the rumors and everything going on, it looks like Alonso might be getting his walking papers from Ferrari soon.
If this pattern of Massa being faster continues in the races and during qualifying in Singapore, then it’s obvious: LdM ate dirt, signed a deal with Kimi, and they're getting rid of Alonso.
Finally, Massa might actually get a real chance to show what he's worth compared to that Spanish politician.

In my estimation, the Ferrari was easily the second fastest car on the grid, and if nothing else, they really ought to have been putting up better times than Nico Hülkenberg; quite frankly, seeing them underperform like that felt like a genuine letdown. As for those top two spots? They were simply out of reach.

The Best F1 driver As I was reflecting on this matter, one couldn't help but wonder: what exactly is being said?
Based on all the rumors swirling around and how things seem to be unfolding, I am beginning to suspect that Fernando Alonso might soon find himself being pushed out of Ferrari.
If history repeats itself with a faster Felipe Massa—not just during the race, but during qualifying and the actual Grand Prix in Singapore—then it will be crystal clear that LdM has simply swallowed his pride, signed a deal with Kimi Räikkönen, and is effectively phasing Alonso out.
In such a scenario, Massa would finally be granted a legitimate opportunity to demonstrate his true worth in comparison to that Spanish politician.

I actually doubt that Alonso will be the one forced out; it is more likely that Massa is the one whose seat is currently on the line.

Raymond Anderson4 said:1. Team radio during Q3, specifically Alonso’s response when they asked about the slipstream:
"So you want me to let him pass? You guys are absolute geniuses."
Translation: So you want me to let him(Felipe) pass? you are really geniuses

Alonso's own clarification: "Here at Monza the slipstreaming strategy is often used: having a car three to four seconds ahead of you allows you to gain a few tenths and for that I must thank Felipe, especially Q3 When i came up behind Vergne ’ sa Toro Rosso and He waited for me. The radio messages have been misunderstood, as is often the case when you don’t experience something first hand: the word ‘genius’ refers to the fact that we could have got out before Nico Rosberg had gone by on his quick lap, but this should not raise any doubts about the impeccable job from the whole team." In other words, Alonso had to eat his words...

And to wrap things up, here is a snippet from Kimi's latest interview:

Reporter: Is this just bad luck at Spa, or will these brake issues continue to haunt you?
KR: Actually, I don't believe in luck...

Reporter: Then what do you believe in? Was it simply material fatigue?
KR: It just happened.

And honestly, how could you not love the guy!🤣
