Managing blood pressure is such a long haul, and those early stages are easily the most frustrating part!
I’d suggest seeing a nephrologist, but you really need to take a more rigorous approach to the whole thing—get an ECG, a blood pressure and heart rate Holter monitor, and maybe even a stress test to see how things hold up under physical exertion.
Honestly, I don't think a general practitioner can always nail down the perfect medication; you really need a specialist like a nephrologist or an internist to get it right!
If you're dealing with high stress on top of everything else, combining some calming medication might actually be far more effective than just tweaking the blood pressure pills...

So many people deal with the exact same struggles you're facing, and while pills can certainly help manage things, psychotherapy is usually what does the heavy lifting... medications might mask the symptoms, but they aren't going to get to the actual root of the issue...

I couldn't agree more. Most doctors just hand out prescriptions like candy because it’s the path of least resistance. They write a script and tell you to see them again in a month! My understanding is that getting actual therapy through insurance is a nightmare, but private practice is an option. That’s where you can really unload; those specialists actually know how to peel back the layers and get to the heart of things. It's definitely worth a shot...
