Everything looks amazing there, but if you're a first-timer, get used to the idea that you'll be surrounded by crowds. 🙄
One more thing: don't expect to be sleeping out in some open field. You'll be in a massive campsite that feels endless. We leave our stuff in the tent—obviously keeping passports, wallets, and valuables on us—but nothing ever went missing. It’s mostly just everyone looking out for each other's tents. And trust me, there are tons of them.
I think there were about 250k people last year... so just imagine that.
There are water and shower stations everywhere. You can brush your teeth there or right in front of your tent if you've got enough water on hand. 😉
We’re taking the train to Vienna (more people means cheaper fares). In Vienna, you transfer to another train—tickets are like 10 bucks—to get to Nickelsdorf. From there, you catch the shuttles heading toward the festival, which cost a few dollars, then it's just a walk through the parking lots to find an entry point and a spot in the camp.
I’d suggest arriving a day early to avoid those insane Friday crowds.
The sets start around noon, but if you're near a vendor station like Coca-Cola, the music starts blasting from early morning. Just wear earplugs; they do the trick. 🙂 Sets wrap up around 2 AM, I think, and the lineup is solid.
The food is great, the beer is good, and don't even get me started on the 5-liter sangria. 🙏
