David Attenborough and the "Go forth and don't multiply" philosophy?

If overpopulation were spread out evenly across the globe, I guess you could actually frame it as a philosophical debate... but it’s just not like that. It isn't a global issue. Instead, we see it mostly concentrated in developing nations, where it’s tangled up with poverty, disease, and even famine. In those places, I really do think birth control is a necessity... whereas here in the States, it feels like the opposite is happening. We've reached a point where politicians have to cook up all these incentives—subsidies for parents, free childcare, decent maternity leave—just to try and nudge people toward saying, "Hey, maybe have more kids!" There are actual philosophies, and even organizations, working to curb unchecked population growth in those third-world countries through education and access to contraception (even the church is starting to back off on that one lately)... and honestly, there should probably be some kind of global philosophy or mandate that requires wealthy nations to balance things out with the poorer ones, creating some kind of equilibrium for the planet in both directions.
