The Great Escape bike! in Cycling ·
Look, if you want to shave off weight without sacrificing quality, you’re going to have to dig deep into your wallet. It’s a trade-off. Those cheaper parts that claim to be "good" usually end up being heavier, and honestly, if you go down that route, you might actually end up with a bike that's 4kg heavier than what you have now. In my experience, the frame is the heaviest single component—at least, that's how it seems to me—and swapping it out rarely makes financial sense since the frame is basically half the bike anyway. If you really want to see a difference, look into lighter rims, tires, or maybe a fork, provided you can swing the cost. It isn't as simple as just "making a bike lose weight." Tell me what kind of budget we're working with, and I'll try to piece together some options. Also, let me know what the current weight of the bike is.
