Everything you’re describing is perfectly standard. You can't expect it to be nothing but liquid blood—if it were, that would actually be the weird part. A period is just the uterine lining shedding, which naturally involves both blood and tissue passing through.

Thanks for the info. To give some context, I mentioned earlier that I "accidentally" ended up with a case of strep throat, and I've already burned through several rounds of antibiotics for it. But my throat is still bright red, and now my doctor thinks it might actually be coming from my stomach. That could make sense given the brutal heartburn and acid reflux I've been dealing with. Honestly, I ended up in the ER because of this sharp, stabbing pain under my right ribcage and up toward my shoulder—I actually thought it was my heart. My heart tests came back totally clear, but my labs showed elevated leukocytes, CRP, and GGT, along with low ferritin, MCV, and MCH. My iron is right at the bottom limit, so basically, it's anemia.

I'm wondering, if there is an ulcer and it’s flared up or ruptured, what kind of symptoms should I be looking for? I don't have a fever, I haven't vomited, and my stool looks normal.
Right now, all I'm feeling is that stabbing sensation near my liver and also on my left side. This started happening after I switched to Silapen 1500 following the Amoxicillin. On my ultrasound, they noted diffuse lesions on the liver (I can't quite make out the exact wording).😢 Also, I've put on quite a bit of weight pretty suddenly.

Basically, the clinical signs that point toward a sore throat caused by strep are: a high fever (over 100.4˚F), exudate (pus) in the throat or on the tonsils, swollen lymph nodes in the front of the neck, and an absence of coughing. The answer to the second question depends entirely on the first. If it turns out to be a strep infection, you'll be given a different antibiotic; if it isn't strep, a different type of treatment will be applied.

Bottom line: see your doctor to confirm whether this is actually strep throat or something else, so you can move forward with the right treatment.

I only found out by chance because I really don't have any symptoms other than the ones I mentioned (and I wouldn't even know if they were signs of tonsillitis, since I've had those little white spots on my tonsils on and off for as long as I can remember).
Basically, after dinner, I was coughing a bit while lying in an awkward position (on a leather couch without a pillow). When I woke up about an hour later, I felt this stabbing pain all along the left side of my chest, mostly around my stomach area. It lasted for three days, so eventually, due to arrhythmia and tachycardia (mostly from the panic), I went to the ER, where they sent me to a cardiologist.
After the exam, everything seemed fine (well, maybe not everything): the X-ray showed heart and lung hila were more prominent and vascular, and there was a hypertonic cardiac shadow—I have no idea what that means.
My blood work showed elevated leukocytes and CRP, so they concluded it was just a respiratory infection, and that was it.
My doctor examined me, said it was tonsillitis, and prescribed Amoxicillin.
Now I'm running more tests because it feels like a whole lot of things are off, so I'm seeing her tomorrow and we'll see.
